Nu Metal listing

Post by k o star » Wed Feb 25, 2009 4:02 pm

I joined Taxi when I saw this listing, thinkin that it's my kinda style... & of course submitted 3 tracks to it... just got all returned today... little dissapointed.. with myself.NU METAL INSTRUMENTALS a la P.O.D., Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, etc. are wanted by a very successful Production Music Library who has placements with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, Disney, Discovery, Lifetime, Fox, USA, etc. (to name just a few). They want tracks that build and grow, with melodic and dynamic variation, for a variety of Film/TV placement opportunities - they need to quickly add to their catalog in this genre. You may consider editing down a full-length song in order to avoid long sections of repetition, since this company NEEDS to have tracks that are changing & building constantly. You can submit tracks that range between 1-4 minutes in length and be sure there are NO VOCALS - they'll be focused on the sound of the guitars/drums for this one (be sure they sound authentic and current!). They want material that sounds like it could be on the radio, but will only be interested in Instrumental versions for this listing. Broadcast quality is necessary, though excellent home recordings should be fine. If you submitted material and/or were forwarded for Dispatch listing # D081230TV, please do not submit the same songs for this listing. This company liked what they've heard so far and wants to hear more. Please submit 1-3 Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than February 9, 2009. TAXI # Y90209NMI really need some feedback on my tracks: Deep Inside a burning Prism, 8, Blood Slave Machine. Pls feel free to be as critical as U possibly can... I really wanna improve my songs/ sound. All opinions are deeply appreciated ^_^-Kelvin

Man, that was weird...I was in the middle of responding to this when you must have moved it. Hey guy,I feel your pain. I'll admit I have a limited knowledge of these band and the genre,so take this for what its worth... This sounds very good, but hits me more as"Industrial" where things are distorted and there is a lot of manipulation of samples with eq sweeps and such. The P.O.D. and Linkin Park cd's I have sound a bit more unprocessed and closer to hard rock...but again, I don't have a huge catalog of this type stuff. What reason did the screener give for the returns?

I'l just have to keep workin on it... not like this is the first rejection I got in the Music industry... hehehHowever, I think U ve a really good point there... cos lots of my influences are frm e Industrial Metal area...Really appreciate Ur feedback man..-Kelvin

Hey Kelvin, Like I said before your style is out of my area of expertise. Oh, wait a minute. I have no area of expertise. Any way, just jumped in to say rejection does suck. But you know you just gotta get back in the game and try again. Sounds like you were just off the mark for this listing. So no worries mate. Onward and upward. Besides you know Blood Slave Machine kicks ass! Dave

hey Kelvin... I just checked out all three of your tracks... good stuff man... really good... Have you you logged in to view your critique online to see if they checked the "not on target for the listing" box? I agree with RLD, these sound more industrial and less like Linkin Park or POD. So I wouldn't be beating yourself up over this one. I'd be submitting these tracks to some of the "High Octane" listings that come around every 3 or 4 months, especially if they're looking for industrial or electronica style tracks. It definitely sounds like you know what you're doing from a songwriting and production standpoint. I'd say that really learning how to key in on the listings is something I'd focus on. Heck, I've been a member for over a year and I'm still learning how to do it. I'd venture to say that there are some members that have been around longer than I have that are still learning how to do it too. So don't feel bad man. Keep your chin up. Work hard and the forwards will come with time. - Big Blue
