Screener 276 S081107CO

Post by rivercitymusic » Thu Dec 04, 2008 4:25 pm

First of all i want to thank this screener for the time it took to review the song i sent in. It's a stretch to even call it a song so i'm happy they did not come by to "pop a cap in my ass" for such a poor offering. And i mean this sincerely. Should have never sent it in until i got a gal to do it. You get old, you get dumb.Too much back porch strumming on this end!lolI just wanted to get a feel for what they migh say, think or do in relationship to a listing and what was presented. They did good.In the event you folks feel hurt by remarks by these screeners you gotta take the first boat load out on people like me that are most likley not suitable for this venue in the first place and taking up their time with cr*p. I do apoligize. Most of what i hear on this site is near radio ready which is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over my head. So If you guys are not making headway with upper shelf productions, I and people like me, unless i'm the only one, are shooting blanks, but having fun.I just write lyrics and put a basic melody to them so that you can kinda tell what i'm trying to present. I'm no singer or player and never desired to be so i'm doing well with this return. It's honest. In fact there was no vomit on the email so I feel pretty good, kinda.Maybe one day i'll get a female singer to do it justice and we'll try again. So, don't bitch, scream or pout. Just listen, learn and do better.I've got a bottle open and i'm gonna enjoy. Hope you do too. Thanks 276Doc

Well thanks and hey, if it's the truth so be it. Music is just fun, pure fun. Yeah i know a lot of you are pros and making a living and so on but when i check outta here i hope i can take my 6 string or be given one when i arrive. I'm also assuming that by a miracle of sorts i'll be able to play and sing a tune that will have the angels dancing a two step.Ya'll be good i'm listening!Doc

Doc, nice post. After hearing the talent that is present here, it makes me realize I do have a way to go with my own stuff... and even then there is nothing promised. But... I do music for fun and TAXI is giving me the focus I need to get better. We may be shooting blanks, but that won't stop me from pulling the trigger , and who knows, something may squeak through.FogWe gotta try.

Good posts by Doc and Fog...I don't know of anyone (other than maybe Stick ) who came to this forum, submitting his first tune and got a deal. I know I suffered from "out of date, out of style" music for quite a while. I was willing but it just took a while for me to "catch up" with the rest of the world. I think we've all been there (except for Stick of course ).It's a game for the patient and openminded... very rewarding (even without any deals).

Amen to that Doc - you have a good attitude - and that's what it takes - of course, I'd like for people to like my lyrics. but it amazes me when someone who doesn't know me says 'I love it!' Making that connection with a stranger by churning up or identifying a feeling they have felt - now that's a 'forward'.Cheryl

You can have a song that gets crowds on their feet, dancng, throwing shit at the stage fence, fighting and whatever; but if it's not what they want or feel they should forward, it'll stay here a while. It's not that it's not good, it's not what they want. I know several dozen groups that can't find enough days to play the gigs they get offered and make a literal fortune playing live from Dallas to Lodi and have been doing it for 40 years. Their stuff may not get forwarded either but they've filled more rooms than most of the big stars we hear about.IDEA:I'm thinking of opening up a free forum, a new website that songwriters can post a link only to a song. Nothing else. No lyrics, no bio, no history, no albums for sale or nothing else. Just a link to a song and a contact email address if anyone is interested. It may give us a ton of stuff to listen to and even if we don't grade or critique what's there we can hear a lot and understand what others are doing. All genres. What do you folks think?Doc

Not sure what it would achieve, though. There are already tons of sites where you can listen to music at the click of a button.
