I was thinkin' that Joe Satriani album with the Silver Surfer on it, somebody help me out here, can't remember the name of that album or the song that sounds similar. Oh well, ya' can't win 'em all. I'll keep at it! EXTREME SPORTS INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a great Production Music Library/Publisher that has signed tons of TAXI members over the years, and has made money for many of them. Think X Games, motocross, skateboarding, BMX, etc. Guitar-based Rock, Power Pop and Punk are typically good bets for this type of opportunity – Joe Satriani, Avril Lavigne and Blink 182. Tracks should ideally run between :60 and 3 minutes in length. Rock Da' House 3I-468PS -- I swear this gets weirder as time goes on. My tune "Conquest" gets forwarded (I wasn't bankin' on that one so much, but happy with the results) for the Olympic thingy, and I just knew this one would "hit the mark" and it didn't. Huummph! Dave Walton said there'd be days like this! You're thinking of "Surfing with the Alien." I can hear the similarities between it and your track. You definitely got a Satch vibe going on in this track. But along the lines of what Dave said, while I think you definitely have a Satch vibe going on in the music, when I listen to the track it doesn't make me think of the X Games, or motocross, etc... Your track is very technical, and I mean that in a good way. But as I look at the artists they list, Joe Satriani, Avril Lavigne, and Blink 182, the only common thread that I can see that all 3 of them may have in common in the context of this listing would be that they all have songs with melodies you can easily hum along to. That's just my humble opinion...As far as your song not getting forwarded, don't be discouraged. It's a good track and there will probably be another listing that will come along for which it will be a good fit. Don't give up hope and keep on writing!- Big Blue
Imagine a steel cage match between Daughtry, Coldplay, Paramore and Demon Hunter with Joe Satriani as the referee...

Hey bigblue! You're right! That's it! "Surfing with the Alien". I couldn't think of it for nothin', and I didn't feel like diggin' around in my album bins lookin' for it. But yeah, OK, I get what you're sayin'. Perhaps you're right. I made the mistake of not listening to any X games or motorcross type of music, so that's my fault. Had I done that, I probably would've submitted somethin' else. I think this track'll be good for somethin' else though, so I'll keep at it. Thanks for listenin' and responding Big Blue!I-468

Hey there. I know I've been a bit MIA lately, but I thought I'd offer up some more insight to the X-Games/Xtreme athlete side of things versus the musician side of things. Let's just say that my day job and my personal experience lends insight to the type of music, mind-set they are probably looking for. Most of these events feature really really heavy stuff, like Korn, Megadeath, Sepultura, etc and have the lighter side of things like the very punky side of Blink182 and Chili Peppers. That being said, you also need to picture a real bad-ass athlete who is most likely going to crank up some "angry" music to get his head in the game before competing, with this track as the back-drop. That picture doesn't so much fit with your track (which is great, BTW, but that's not what I'm here to ramble about). I'm here to point out the people "dancing" to the soundtrack. Keeping that in mind, I think you'll be able to nail the next listing of this type. I would think of this track that you've created as a more technical...the right word isn't coming to mind at the moment, but it might even work well for a video game type listing...now just thinking out loud Nice job though.

I am new here, but I have a very long life as a producer of radio and television promos. This track is not extreme. Please understand I mean no harm, and only wish to be honest. I hope others will do the same for me, when that time comes, including yourself. This track would have been extreme circa 1990 or slightly before. The synth feel that dominates and stands many db above the intro and ending is just too "synthy".The mix comes off a bit thin in my speakers. The extreme music that I have worked with on promos is the sort of thing that would yank you into a dark alley and rip your throat out. And you would thank it for doing so, it would be that pleasurable.check out white zombie's Thunder kiss '65 for an example of where extreme rock was in 1993 or so. Yours comes close to that, minus the synths. Now, this track is not beyond redemption, if you wish to make it MODERN extreme, but it is fine on its own merits, and I think you will find good listings for it. A couple suggestions if you wish to update it (which it doesn't need. You just want to match the listing category differently):Lose the synthy stuff. Replace it with something that will rip the guts out of the family cat, smile at the neighbors, and head off to the UFC championship cage match.Guttural guitars, roaring drums. Make the speakers BLEED.How old are you? I am a fairly old guy (38). My son and I have many things in common, including Metallica, Korn, Puddle Of Mud, Tool, Lamb Of God and many other hard rock bands. These are a good starting point. Disregard metallica, they are no longer considered hard rock by the kids.Drop D tuning is the sound of the day, melody is of nearly no importance (but it lurks in there somewhere, oftentimes in the bass), and the main point is to out-groan each other in the most guttural sense.I am NOT slamming your work, far from it. It has a place in many types of listings, I'm sure, but for what could be called extreme in a modern sense, it's just not in that sound category.

I must also add, I think the listing was a bit deceptive. I produce promos and know many other producers.I can't think of anyone I know who would, now, consider joe satriani to be extreme. Avril Lavigne-hardly. Blink 182. Maybe. It looks like the casting company struggled to define their needs.Your song certainly fits the satriani feel. Too bad they couldn't be more concise.
