Forwards for songs about cities, etc

Post by mikegoudreau » Wed Dec 19, 2007 3:52 pm

Hello friends,I just forwarded for a listing very similar to one I got a return for about 2 months ago...Pretty awesome...I needed that !Here's the listing:MEDIUM to UPTEMPO SONGS ABOUT CITIES (with vocals) from ANY GENRE are sought by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher that has placed dozens of TAXI songs. Lyrically, he'd like songs that deal with the topics of Cities, their people, and landmarks. As examples, think along the lines of "City of New Orleans" (Arlo Guthrie), "New York, New York" (Frank Sinatra) to more modern tunes like "London" (Third Eye Blind). He offers non-exclusive deals for vocal songs. Songs must be Broadcast Quality (excellent sounding home recordings are OK). Please submit one to three songs on line or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Dec. 6, 2007. TAXI # S071206CI here's the link to hear the tune that was forwarded " Have You Been Down To New Orleans ? " :http://taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=47722&stream=1The other forward was for a radio show in Europe...I also submitted some of my blues songs to a similar listing and got returned for a while back...But went with my gut and...Success !here's the listing:The host of an established and popular radio show highlighting U.S. indie artists/bands is seeking a wide range of talented, commercially-viable BLUES/ROOTS BANDS & SOLO ARTISTS. In the past year, they've highlighted over 1/2 dozen TAXI artists. In her own words: "I am seeking quality music for my new, weekly on-air Rock Radio Show with big-FM, the No. #1 CHR [Current Hit Radio] Radio Broadcast Network in Europe/Germany. The music must be from U.S. based Indie Artists who write and perform their own music, ready for commercial airplay. NO DEMOS. My demographic is huge: 18-34yr. olds, over 10 million listeners! Artists must have a full length recorded CD and be ready for major exposure. If selected, the Artist will have MAJOR exposure to millions of listeners and new fans instantly; be the FEATURED and ONLY Artist on the show (all about you!); and big-FM will dedicate an entire official webpage on their site for the duration of the week your song/feature show is aired, of which they receive thousands of hits! If you think you are the NEXT BIG, HOTTEST INDIE ARTIST ready to have major exposure, this is your opportunity to be heard! We are NOT accepting unsolicited material. Through TAXI and your assurance of quality music, we will accept those submissions only." She asked us to be quite selective in whom we forward to her. Broadcast quality needed. If you're submitting a CD, make sure it's your full-length release, per the above instructions. If you're submitting online, have your full-length CD handy in case they're interested and contact you. Please submit two to three songs online or per CD, include bio/photo. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Dec. 4, 2007. TAXI # S071204BLHere's the link to one of the 3 tunes forwarded called " You Should Have Known Better "http://taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=59582&stream=1 I've had a few returns in the last weeks and was wondering if I was in a bit of a slump...But this goes a long way in giving me that boost I needed...I read stuff like this in these forums all the time ! Just when I think I'm a shmuck...a Forward ( especially tough ones like these), proves me wrong...Gotta love TAXI for moments like these...Now it's the waiting game !Cheers fellow songwriters,Mike

Congrats Aub !Listened to your tune and it goes to show that listing wasn't kidding when they said " ANY GENRE " ...Our songs are so different in style ! Congrats to you too Bob for your 50s-60s-70s forward !BTW, of course Canadians can swing...Oscar Petersen was from Montreal my good man ! Pretty hard to swing more than that gentleman ! LOL ...P.S. one of the blues tunes that got forwarded for that Europe radio listing was in French...Another gut instinct thing since I could have sent a dozen tunes for that ( in English )...But the reviewer seemed to appreciate that I added that one...I hated going to French school ...But I thank my mom for that everyday now that I'm grown up! ( she only spoke English )..Mother knows best.
