Re: LYRICAL THEME Composers
Well, call them and ask them if they mean piano or orchestra?

Re: LYRICAL THEME Composers
Here's the official listing:LYRICAL THEME COMPOSERS are sought by an established Film Composer who is joining forces with a well-known/veteran Music Supervisor to create a production music catalog for Film and TV. They are not looking to license tracks but are hoping to find talent that they can commission new work from. They are looking to collaborate with composers who have excellent programming skills, the newest sample libraries and a commanding knowledge of their own sounds and techniques to the point where they can turn around a complex assignment quickly. IMPORTANT: For this particular listing, they want to hear big swelling themes for string orchestra, choir which may be mixed with percussion. The programming and samples have to sound realistic and emotive. Vocals are OK as long as the lyrics are not clear and the voice is sung in an ambient type of way. ALSO PLEASE NOTE: We originally ran this as Dispatch listing #D090205LR and the Composer has some people he is interested in but definitely wants to hear more. If you submitted to the listing referenced, please send in new material this time around. Please submit 2-3 compositions online or per CD, include bio. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Wednesday, August 19, 2009. TAXI # Y090819LT

Re: LYRICAL THEME Composers
But what's a "lyrical theme" in reference to? Like is it a sound base for someone who's planning on singing? LOL I've asked my wife on this one too - we can't figure it out.

Re: LYRICAL THEME Composers
IMO it means "melodic". Like the theme for "Sleeping with the Enemy"

In the way e.g. the lyrics of "Land Of Hope And Glory" were added to the Trio from Elgar's Pomp And Circumstance #1. Which incidentally (or maybe not incidentally as a matter of fact) is a great example of a "lyrical theme".It's a fairly widely used expression in instrumental music, also often used by classical composers as an instruction to the interpreter...where it would be interpreted as "in a singing fashion".HTH,matto
