help deciphering this listing

Post by solardaze » Sat Aug 15, 2009 4:53 am

Hey all, this listing below says it is Trip Hop Instrumental but then asks to submit lyrics. Now do you think they are expecting some sort of vocal component to the song or it is a mistake? Usually when they are flexible on lyrics they say "include lyrics if applicable". It does not say that here, so i'm now wondering if they EXPECT a vocal component and I will get gonged if I don't have a vocal component. Does this make sense???TRIP HOP INSTRUMENTALS a la Thievery Corp, etc., are needed by a successful Music Publisher who's had tons of great Film/TV placements for many TAXI members. Performances must be top-notch! They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal - you keep your original copyrights. Broadcast quality needed (great home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Tuesday, August 25, 2009.TAXI # Y090825TH

Lyrics in an instrumental? I'd say it's worth a call or e-mail!
Evocative Music For Media

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

If anyone else was interested, here is the response from TAXI, looks like they made an error:"Unfortunately it is an error on our part in asking for lyrics when thelisting is asking for Instrumentals. However, having said that - we put inwhat the company asked for and their exact words were Trip Hop Instrumentalsa la Thievery Corp - so it sounds like they may not know what they arelooking for as well! My thinking is that they are looking for instrumentalsin the style of Thievery Corp but without vocals and that the error is onour part in asking for lyrics."TAXI A&R
