Does anyone have an idea what "Romantic Comedy" instrumental might mean? (In instrumental listings).

Hi,I would start by watching or listening to the scores to your favorite Romantic Comedies (or sometimes known as "Chick Flicks" ). That would probably give you an idea of what the listing is asking for. That's what I'm going to do (after I solicit my wife's recommendations, that is )Good luck!Mazz

I just gave Taxi a call about this one. I was told it's a fairly open field...nothing too melancholy...more Major than Minor...Hope that helps...Harry

Hmmm, I submitted what I thought was two good tunes for this listing, only to have them both rejected because "they weren't distinctive enough," according to the mini-critique that was posted. The listing plainly stated they were looking for B material and Taxi could be more flexible about forwarding material for this listing. Well I guess they weren't flexible enough for my material. I was very disappointed about this one.

I watched several Rom-Coms to get an idea of what sort of music is used. They use loads of different types. One of my submissions was a sad-ish piece, for the time when the boy and girl have broken up (!) and it was rejected for not being comedic. Clearly not every piece of music in a Rom-Com is "comedy" - I think they could have been much more specific on this listing. Sorry about your return, Glenn, yes I too thought this was a broader listing than it was. Georgie

Romantic Comedy is a very good example of why Taxi should post what it forwarded to the client. Every Listing should have the forwards posted so we can hear what was considered good. A professional composer/songwriter needs to balance what he feels is good to what the client believes they need.

If I remember correctly, it finally came down to: It's up to the members themselves if they want to post a forwarded track. Some members don't want their music automatically posted on the TAXI website and it also may bring up some legal issues for TAXI. So it's not going to happen automatically.I've seen threads before that requested folks to post their forwards such as: "Who was forwarded to the Romantic Comedy listing?". You might get some volunteers that way.The bottom line is, the research should be done on the a las and if it's a broad genre such as romantic comedy with no a las listed, then you have to take your best shot. I'm not sure how many requests you've seen outside of TAXI listings but in comparison, TAXI listings are most generous with their details. Mazz

TAXI created the "Forward" section at my request so that those who were willing could post their forwarded music for others to hear. It has to be voluntary. I cannot insist that another composer post their work publicly or allow me to hear their forwarded music. Plenty of people do share, and I'm grateful to them for permitting me to learn from their example.
