Listing # Y090224NW -- Guitars???

Post by natallica » Sun Feb 01, 2009 9:36 am

Here's the listing:80's NEW WAVE INSTRUMENTALS a la Duran Duran, The Human League, Erasure,Depeche Mode, etc. are wanted by a very successful Production MusicLibrary who has placements with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, Disney, Discovery,Lifetime, Fox, USA, etc. (to name just a few). They want tracks that buildand grow, with melodic and dynamic variation, for a variety of Film/TVplacement opportunities -they need to quickly add to their catalog in thisgenre. You may consider editing down a full-length song in order to avoidlong sections of repetition, since this company NEEDS to have tracks thatare changing & building constantly. You can submit tracks that rangebetween 1-4 minutes in length and be sure there are NO VOCALS -they'll befocused on the sound of the guitars/drums for this one (be sure they soundauthentic and current!). They want material that sounds like it could beon the radio, but will only be interested in Instrumental versions forthis listing. Broadcast quality is necessary, though excellent homerecordings should be fine. Please submit 1-3 Instrumentals online or perCD. I'm a little confused. None of the bands listed at the top of the listing have many songs that feature guitars.Does the listing mean to say "synths/keyboards" in place of guitars or are guitars meant to be featured in songs that otherwise sound like stuff from the above bands?Thanks!-- N

Well, the guitar reference in the lisitng is confusing but if I were going to submit to this I'd be more concerned with the "be sure the sound is authentic and current". How in the heck are songs that are 80's new wave songs gonna sound authentic AND current? Also human League was the first band I heard about that used Linn drums, I don't think drums could be any more dated sounding than that, but yet the listing says the focus will be on current sounding drums? No wonder you're a little confused, it's goofy . . .

I did see that as well, but the guitar part had me confused more! ;-)I guess one could just program the drums with new wave patterns, but use a current drum synth for the sounds??? -- N

The problem with the listing as I see it is (besides the guitar comment) is that they are asking for an authentic 80's sound while at the same time saying the guitars and drums should be current. You should call Taxi before you submit or (worse) record a song for this, something is wrong with this listing.
