High Energy Hard Rock/Punk Songs and Instrumentals

Post by bigbluebarry » Wed Oct 29, 2008 2:54 am

Here's the listing:DOWN AND DIRTY/HIGH ENERGY HARD ROCK/PUNK SONGS AND INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the Music Supervisor for a few new reality shows by the creators of "Jackass" and "Rob and Big". While he'll need a variety of song styles over time, he has an urgent need for really wacky, frantic, adrenaline-pumping, left of center and fun uptempo Rock/Punk/Metal songs. Musically, you can think in the range of Suicidal Tendencies, Social Distortion, System of a Down, Slipknot, Tiger Army, Nekromantix, Nine Inch Nails, Demented Are Go!, etc. Lyrically, there are no limitations but the tone should be off the wall and a little twisted for this one. Instrumentals will be considered as well as songs with vocals. Performances need to be great and the tempo/energy needs to race. Recordings must be at Broadcast Quality, though excellent home recordings should be just fine. We'll need to be pretty selective here, so make sure to send in your BEST 1-3 songs online or per CD - include lyrics if applicable. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Noon PST on Thursday, October 30, 2008. TAXI #D081030RKHere's the link:I Like The Pain - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ream=trueI was trying to hit somewhere in the Slipknot meets System of a Down range. Thoughts?Thanks!- Big Blue

Man, I think you nailed it. The drums sound great on this! (Blue, I think you'd get more input if you posted in the "peer" review section)

Thanks JVB I think I should have said I was going for a cross between System and Necromantix. It really does have much of a Slipknot feel to it. Thanks again - Big Blue

Thanks Brad! I had a blast coming up with this one. I know someone who also was forwarded for this listing and he has been contacted by the client with an offer so I'm pretty sure I didn't have what they were looking for.I played this song for a friend of mine who has seen the show and he said "While I think you definitely captured the sound of the bands in the listing, it doesn't sound like the music they play on Jackass." I wish I would have spent some time watching at least one or two clips of the show but I basically had a 4 hour window of opportunity in my schedule to write/record/pocket/mix/master the song so that I could submit it the dispatch listing. So while I felt pretty good about hitting the mark as far as sounding like the artists referenced, I hurt my chances for this listing by not taking an extra few minutes to research the shows they listed so that I would know, maybe not exactly, but a lot more of an educated idea as to the exact type of sound they were looking for.I've since watched a few clips of the show and almost instantly had an "OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH! So THAT'S what they're wanting" kind of moment. The same company is running a regular listing for the same type of material. I'm going to see if I can take this lesson and apply it so that next time, I get the forward AND the deal! Never satisfied!- Big Blue
