Anyone else submit for Ralph Murphy's 2-parter?

Post by tedsingingfox » Sat Oct 18, 2008 12:53 pm

Just curious.I'm guessing that if there are 2000 TAXI members at the Rally, there will probably be at LEAST 1800+ submissions for this listing.Hell, my chances are as good as anyone else's...So, DID you?

We wanted to SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad ....but couldn't. Unfortunately the type of music we mainly do doesn't work well with the format laid out. Ironically Urban/Hip Hop music does not work for the Pimp My Song panel lol.... It doesn't really have a piano or guitar melody that can be played live and still convey what the song sounds like. We need BASS etc... My son is working on a several rock(ish) songs, but is not comfortable playing "and" singing live yet. He's only been playing since Dec. He can play fine, but if he has to sing also.....forget it! Soooo I guess it's safe to say we are studio musicians way more than we would care to admit.Good luck and hope you get chosen Ted

I don't think there would be THAT many submissions. Many Taxi members don't sing and play, or wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. I just sat down in my living room with the guitar, turned the mic on and recorded 3 of my songs, each in a one-take, and submitted them. My non-instrumental for film/tv stuff is real indie singer/songwriter. I tend to write about things outside the mainstream, but I figured what the heck. They did say 'all levels' but also 'good songwriting' and 'willingness to learn'. I think we both are a fit for those criteria, Ted

I REALLY wanted to but I'm just not a strong enough vocalist to pull it off, unless you count death metal growls, then I could have done it lol

Talking about the Pimp my Song thing?? I submitted a few songs to it. Haven't heard back yet. That's going to be a really interesting panel. Good luck Ted and Hummingbird!

Well, crap...Just got the listing results about an hour ago. Mine did NOT. Maybe I'll just convince myself that it's because it was SUCH a great song, Ralph would never have been able to make all THAT many improvements.(Of course, I can't promise that even I will wind up believing that load of B.S. )

Don't worry Ted, mine didn't make it either. I'm with you, it didn't need many improvements because it was so great!! Yeah right...See you in a couple days
