No opinions, I guess. I wish someone would have said, "that sucks."

I really like this A LOT! I could see it being used for the Olympics for sure. It could just be me, but I found the 2nd trumpet (the one at a lower volume) to be distracting at times. Just an observation...Overall, I think it's great though.

Tighten up the rhythms and balance the orchestra a bit more. It's a nice composition and well orchestrated. I'm curious what orchestral library you're using.Steve

I'm using a Roland XP-30 synthesizer for the orchestral patches. Steve

Hello Wignelson:A word of caution... I received a contract from a company (we won't mention). The original ad read "...exclusive..." "...5 year reversion clause...".The contract gave that company the right to copyright my music in their name, name themselves as composer, & several other deal breakers. All this was for no money up front.I declined their offer. If you receive an offer, read the contract carefully. That particular contract was the most complex document I have ever read.Since then, I've avoided listings that read "...exclusive..." "...5 year reversion clause...".Good luck,Eric

They might want it exclusively, because they think it's really good, and plan on exploiting the hell out of it. I like situations like that. It's hard to know, but there isn't a hard and fast rule for every situation. Best thing is always to write more tunes and keep getting them out. The rest of the clauses you mentioned would have been deal breakers for me, unless I got advice that it was worth pursuing. So my first inclination, would be to agree with you about the other stuff.

Eric,Was this via a TAXI listing? If so, I would recommend alerting TAXI to the terms of this contract, which sounds, from what you stated, not the kind of thing TAXI would want to associate themselves with (my own speculation only).I wouldn't hesitate to submit to 5 year exclusive listings based only on that one experience, there are many reputable companies out there that won't take your music away from you. Your caution to read every contract is a very good one and I would add that having an entertainment lawyer on your team is a good policy if you don't understand the contract yourself.Mazz

Re: Dramatic or Olympic - Help Please
Hi Mazz,Yes, it was a Taxi listing. It's no big deal. I consider this to be a part of the music business. For that matter any type of business. Taxi can't be expected to review the contracts of the companies that solicit tunes.I've got no problem with a 5 year exclusive contract. It was the idea of someone else naming themselves as composer that really stopped me cold. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE UNLESS THERE IS GOOD MONEY UP FRONT EricP.S.That's a cute dog you've got. I lived with tiny poodles for 20 years. They're great dogs.
