Only vocal or instrumentals too for this one?

Post by frodo » Tue Jul 15, 2008 6:03 am

There's this new listing:---NEW LISTING -- DOWNTEMPO/CHILLOUT/LOUNGE ELECTRONICA SONGS a la Zero 7, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation, etc. are needed by an innovative Independent Record Label in the UK who produces Electronica compilation CDs for brands and established companies. They're looking for content as well as composers that could produce specific tracks customized for their projects. In other words, the whole package should really be here -- content/tracks combined with a person who has the technological and compositional ability to turn around material on an "as needed" basis per project. If you don't feel that you would be interested in being contacted for this type of ongoing relationship, please don't submit for this listing. That said, the content and the songs will be what is primarily evaluated for this request. Because of the cross between the "artist" and "song" listing, please submit at least two tracks so the company can get a feel for the scope of your abilities. Please submit 2-3 songs online or per CD, include bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by August 13, 2008.TAXI # S080813EL---Well, I see all the artists listed are doing songs with vocals.Still - there's nothing in the listing itself that says 'vocal only'.It's not so easy to understand as the listing says they are looking for content as well as composers. So - what do you think? Is this a listing where only vocal songs will be forwarded?- until next timefrodo

Hey Frodo! That's what I'd be willing ta' bet. Not familiar with the a la's, but if they're known ta' do vocals, then that's what's expected for this listing. Doesn't say anything about instrumentals, so I'd have ta' assume that vocals are needed for this one. Just my $.02.I-468

I'd call Taxi and ask - let us know what they say

That's three weeks ago, and I haven't gotten any reply yet.Still don't get if it's just songs with vocals or instrumentals also, as my view changes while reading it...Well, I guess I could try sending anyways, however, - I like to be very focused on my submissions, only submitting to what I feel would be a fit...Hmmm- guess I'll have to sleep on it, or hopefully taxi will come back to my before the deadline. - until next timefrodo

FrodoSince the listing says "songs" and mentions those "a la's" who mainly do tracks with vocals, I'd only submit songs with vocals. It seems like a no-brainer to me. However, taxi should have responded to your inquiry... I suggest you call them today, confirm the requirements for the listing, and mention that no one ever got back to you. I think they'd want to know that.Good luck! Casey

I have been there...Slow reply or no reply regarding e-mail. I have a personal contact now, works much better! It's too expensive to call Taxi from where I live and from where you live as well my country neighbor!. I have submitted a bunch of songs to this listing, and all of them with vocals. And what I can tell this is a pretty high listing? Do you have any instrumental tracks written? Why don't you add some vocals on them? Maybe you could send 2 tracks with vocal and 1 instrumental?
