Contemporary Christian Listing

Post by wignelson » Thu Jul 10, 2008 8:05 am

Hi, All, I am not primarily a writer of Christian songs, but I've written a few because I can write in any genre.I'm an extreme newbie here and a listing caught my eye for contemporary Christian songs. Deadline was July 3rd.I submitted two songs on July 3rd. Here is one of them: http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... stream=1My question is, is this a contemporary Christian song, or is it Allen Parsons meets Pink Floyd in church?Any feedback greatly appreciated.BTW the other song I submitted came to me in a dream the other night. That was weird.Wig

Wow! Is this a dead subject or what? I am not a religious nut. I write in every genre. I will think long and hard about writing in this one again.

Hi Wig,I like your song but I think when they're looking for contemporary Christian music they want more of a current sounding song that is directed more towards a singer rather than band oriented. I love your guitar licks! Makes David Gillmore envious - Felix

Don't let the amount of traffic on a thread guide your writing... submitting to less popular genres might be an advantage... I'm at work now, I'll try to listen when I get home... I submit here from time to time as well....Peace, Geo

I sent this in on July 3rd. No word yet. I'm not holding my breath, but I know it's a good song. I've had Christian rockers request to cover it. Why would they do that if it wasn't a good song? But no reply and no critique makes me wonder if I even got listened to. Oh Well

I think it takes about 4 to 5 weeks until you get a yes or no. Sometimes what "we" think is a great song is not necessarily a great song for "them" which can be frustrating. I sort of developed an elephant skin over the years.

We probably both submitted for the same listing - I sent mine in around the end of May. Tomorrow is August. Sometimes you just have to forget you ever sent anything in!Claire

Hey guys,From my experience the quickest response that I've had from a submission is about two weeks after the deadline, the longest has been about four or five weeks after the deadline. The important point here is "after the deadline". From what I gather Taxi will not start screening submissions for a listing until after the deadline and release the forward/reject messages all at the same time when all submissions for the listing have been listened to. So sending a submission in early will not mean that you will hear about it any earlier. Best advice I've heard is write/ submit/ write /submit.....repeat process...don't wait around for Taxi. You will hear from them at some point, probably 2-6 weeks after the deadline. If no response after 6 weeks past deadline then a quick phone call would be called for...in the meantime just keep writing.Derek
