Beatles Covers

Post by aimusic » Wed Apr 02, 2008 11:09 pm

Hey All,New Listing COVERS OF BEATLES SONGS are needed by an Independent Music Publisher who has tons of Film/TV placements. He's looking for quality cover arrangements with excellent performances. These submissions will be to pitch for Film/TV projects, so they must be broadcast quality. Male or Female vocals are okay. The president of the company will screen these submissions himself. He splits the license fee with you 40/60 [that 60% is for you] and doesn't take any publishing. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received by May 2, 2008. TAXI #Y080502POI've only got 1 question with submissions like this.1) Do I have to acquire any permission to record a cover and submit it say for this specific listing, or can I record 3 covers, send them off and wait for the lawyers letter Take CareB

I did wonder myself about the copyright situation.Do the publishers deal with that, if they want to use it?

hey guys, once a song has been published (played on the radio, etc.) anyone can record it. If you put it on a cd you have to pay the mechanical royalties. If you have it placed in a movie or tv the producers of the show take care of getting the permission to use it, you will get the "up front" fee you negotiated to use your recorded version of the song & the writers get paid the royalties from their PRO. That's the way I understand it, if I've missed something I'm pretty sure someone else will chime it.
