Broadcast quality?

Post by jmather » Sat Jan 12, 2008 12:02 pm

Hey all! Here's a new instrumental that I'm thinking of pitching soon. For anyone who wants to take a listen, I have 2 Qs: Considering the mp3ness of it, is this broadcast quality - production/performance-wise? Also, the "oooos" are a bit ragged but I kind of like it...I'm struggling between the whole character vs. perfection thing. Any thoughts would be great!Justin http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... 6&stream=1

Hi JustinNice piece overall musically. The recording quality on the guitar part sounds nice and clean and the performance seems pretty solid except for a few places of string rub. The string rub does keep the authenticity of the character of the instrument. I have to leave it to someone on the board more experienced as to whether it affects forward. The 'oouu's to be candid do not sound good. I'd redo the part. Unfortunately, to my ear it sounded like it was on the track with the guitar? Do you have to replay the performance? Anyway, the vox is pitchy and the room sound is kind of dull. As an alternative to singing it, maybe consider some synth pads of real light strings and voice tones. Maybe sing over the synth vox part and if necessary use pitch correction.Hope that helps. Arkjack! Hey thanks for the listen and your candid opinion, that's what I'm looking for. The string rub was another question I had, thanks for bringing it up. I think the piece may lend itselft to a nylon string guitar, but I don't have one yet, bummer. The oooohs are an overdub so I could redo them in a heart beat. thanks again!Justin

Hiya, I'm gonna be the one with the other ideaI like the oohs, however I would make em more a part of the song and the whole second half with ooh, like a little melody over the nice guitar feel and nothing in the first, and leave the intro, doesnt fit I think with the rest of the song.Do a ooh version and a non ooh version, but do more with the ooh, and you could send the non ooh version to the guitar thing thats being asked for in submissions.Steini
