First submission...Childrens Music listing

Post by keithl » Fri Dec 28, 2007 7:30 pm

Hello guys/gals,I just became a new member of TAXI. Looking forward to learning a great deal and hopefully a couple forwards. It seems the TAXI community is pretty awesome and rare (rare meaning USUALLY people keep their music and honest opinions real close to the vest, this crowd shares!)So I am thinking about submitting this for the children's music listing. I would be interested in any feedback as to it "fitting" the listing or any problems with the instrumental itself. I am trying to get an idea of what works and what does not.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=1Range of great CHILDREN'S MUSIC INSTRUMENTALS (no vocals) are needed by a U.K.-based Music Library/Publishing Co. for TV placement. This company ran numerous TAXI listings in 2006 (and signed many TAXI songs) and is now in need of more great material as their service has become very much in demand. Style-wise, they are seeking many different moods, from fast-paced fun songs to slow and sleepy songs. They don't want tracks that sound like they were obviously MIDI generated - authenticity and great performances are the keys. Both instrumentals with lead melody lines and basic backing tracks that serve as "soundbeds" are OK - they want both. All tempos are OK. Track length should be in the 1:00 - 3:00 range. At this point they work mostly with prominent U.K. TV channels such as the BBC and ITV, but also supply music to other production companies that broadcast worldwide. They offer non-exclusive, 50/50 deals. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK].

thanks for checking it outEven though I played all the instruments, my only problem with it is that it might be too MIDI sounding. But after listening to some kids music, it is pretty similar sounding. Thanks again!

It IS a cute toon! I'm no expert, but it does sound a little mechanical, especially the drum track. That might work against you. But it is a good composition. If I were you I'd submit it - even if you get a return, you should get some help from the critique to know what to tweak to meet the criteria next time. Here's my entry....http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ummin'bird

Hi B.Flat - hey, I don't think your sounds are bad, I think that they just have a bit of a midi flavour. I find I spend a lot of time working to make the virtual instruments sound real by varying velocity & quantisizing & stuff like that. This is something I knew nothing about a few months ago but my fellow forum members have helped me enormously by giving me great how-to advice.Yes, it is my Christmas present to myself... my brand new Gold Bundle (I upgraded from the Silver Bundle). Still could use a tweak or two on the levels.I also managed to get this one in under the wire - submitted it with about 5 minutes to spare - it's a wee bit avant guarde & also needs a tweak or two - Kazoo Carousel...http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

No, I did not take it that way, I agree my track sounded a tad "midi". That was the one issue I was battling with as to whether or not to submit. I dig your 2nd track, too...some great sounds!

Hey Vikki,Checked out Kazoo Carousel. Pretty cool. Like the harmonized kazoos. That was ingenious! I've got a kazoo around here somewhere. Dang! Where is that thing? Good luck on the submittal.ibanez468
