Hi,For the listing Children's Music, I wrote a song my kids ( like 25 years ago), and finally recorded it last year. The whole tune is much to long for submission( over 10 minutes) and it uses a lot of midi type sound effects, which this listing says is a no-no. So I edited out two sections, I would appreciate your comments about these two versions against this listing.Raindrops & Monnbeams... version 1http://www.reddproductions.net/reynovia/raindr ... mp3version 2http://www.reddproductions.net/reynovia/raindr ... .mp3Thanks!

I like the second piece a lot more than the first. The first piece may be better suited toward the definition of "Children's Music" but the timing is really loose and the sounds might be a problem. The second piece sounds like the music from "Mr Rogers Neighborhood" but that's not typical children's music I don't think. That music is probably kind of an unusual musical item since Johnny Costa (the music director and piano player for Fred Rogers) played some of the most sophisticated music ever heard on a kids TV show (I used to watch the show just to hear him play). I'd submit them I think, especially if there's a critique.

Re: More Children's Music
Hi Dave,I appreciate your comments, ( sorry I didn't answer back then when this was posted, with the January deadline, I put it to the back burner and forgot about it).You are correct about the timing it is loose, this is one of those tunes that is best played very loosely ( a lot of rubato), every time I try to put it to a tight meter, it just doesn't sound good, way to mechanical. On the first version, I purposely dragged the timing around trying to imitate how music boxes tempos vary. I cut a third version, although a little tighter in meter it still has a lot of rubato in it, the third version is straight piano. I'll probably submit all three, for the critiques if nothing else.http://www.reddproductions.net/raindrop ... .mp3Thanks again for your comments!I would welcome any comments from the forum! Thanks!Bob

Beautiful playing, Bob....if they don't cut it for childrens music, you definitely have some great mood pieces on your hands. I am a guitarist that plays keyboards with "dog paws." Always wanted to be able to play piano really well and maybe drift from the key of "C" and actually hit some black keys once in a while!Good luck with your submissions!
