Do these tracks fit the a la's?
Here is the listing:ADULT CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS are sought by an Independent Music Distributor that represents North America that wishes to license completed CDs from talented artists from around the world. Think along the lines of Michael Buble, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, Annie Lennox, Sting, Natalie Merchant, Seal, etc. Great performances are a must, especially vocally.I'm thinking of submitting the following songs:DownLet Me Breathe

twilsbach, These are really sharp songs, "Down" being slightly better than the other, IMO. But I can easily imagine both songs being performed by Natalie Merchant... so there's your "connection" to the listing. Let's hope the screeners agree. As far as the other a la's go...not so much so. Only because you have a strong guitar presence and Buble, McLachlan and Groban are piano people. Annie Lennox is synthy-pop so anything that sounds like a guitar isn't.Sting might be a match actually, but that's like saying,"... You remind me of God, only shorter." And Seal.... well, he had a glorious hit about a rose, a while ago , so he gets tagged on to every list. So them are my answers; yes on 2 and a seal.Silence

thanks for the listen. I was thinking along the same lines, didn't really nail all the a la's but maybe it was close enough on one or two to get a forward.Anyone else wanna weigh in?

Hey twilsbach,I liked both of these songs!! AC they are, although they don't match up to the ala's. To me these sound more like John Mayer than any of the artists mentioned in the listing."Let Me Breathe" I found to be more interesting melodically, and stuck in my head. I could still sing the chorus back, but the other one left me blank when I tried to recall the melody. That's usually my test as to whether a song works or not. Whenever I show a song to a someone whose opinion I trust I ask them to sing the hook back to me. If they can, I know I have something to hold on to.In any event, I think you have some strong material here.Best,Cisco

Twilsbach, I'd like to agree with Cisco before it's too late. These two songs aren't close enough to submit... Granted, "Let Me Breathe" is a complete package, ready-to-ship... but this AC listing isn't it (Natalie Merchant was the only real hit and Chris Daughtry is more your "a la" than Sting, but he wasn't mentioned - Dang it!) And "Down" hasn't reached it's full potential, though it appeals to me and my gut *as is* - the music and lyric still need a theme to grab onto. Something that'll make your interesting parts more memorable. Now, if the listing offers a critique I might submit "Down" - only because I'm partial to it and I'd like to hear it grow into it's very best. Peace,Silence edit: ... for what it's worth ...another gut thing. Here's an artist you may or may not know. IMO, he's got and a few things you might enjoy hearing and yes I'd tell him the same about you... so check him out: Ray's Myspace Quote:Hey twilsbach,I liked both of these songs!! I'm gonna echo the sentiments of cisko...great AC tracks but I don't think they fit the ala's. They remind me of David Gray a little, and someone else I can't think of at the moment..maybe a little 90's post grunge singer-songwriter flavor in there too.
