Stick,Could you post a link to your piece that was forwarded? This listing seems to be a little difficult to interpret. I listened to the Dave Matthews piece she had temped and not much of the description in the listing seemed to line up with the song. I sent something in on the first listing and was returned. Congratulations on your forward.By the way, I noticed you spent some time in Nashville. I'm just south of town in Brentwood.Chuck

Hey Chuck... sorry I didn't see this reply... Yeah, 3 years in the Nash was enough. We lived up near the big Christ Church on Old Hickory. I worked on Music Row at Hummingbird Productions doing jingles. Here's that track I did for this listing:http://www.thestickhouse.com/misc/taxis ... -18-07.mp3

Brian,Thanks for posting your piece. Have there been any new developments on this listing? Also, I like the piano sound. I'm exploring the various options in software pianos (Akoustik, Ivory etc.) I'm also considering figuring out a way to record my Yamaha baby grand that is in different room than my studio. What have you found to work the best for you.Chuck

Stick,Finally got around to listening to your piece listed above. Very cool, Bruce Hornsby-ish, gospel vibe. Is that the piano in your studio or software? It sounds like a mic'd up piano. Nice drum sound too. I think when they requested tempo changes (didn't see the original listing) they may have really meant feel changes, which you do well in this piece. Sometimes I think 1/2 time feel changes sound like tempo changes to a listener when really the underlying tempo hasn't changed, just the time feel.Good to finally hear some of your work.Mazz

Sounds like the better description might have been "complicated".A lot of artists like The Police, Peter Gabreil, and as far out as Enya....they use a melody and thrive on it but with various dynamics.....like mellowing it down during a verse and jazzing it up big during the chorus. "In Your Eyes" I think is the song by Peter Gabreil I'm thinking of. The Police - "cant stand losing you"......these songs move along, but the tempos and dynamics are bizarre.Anyway, that description fits like 0 of my 30+ songs....so it would make me scroll faster too.

Just an update on this listing... She used the piece I posted. The funny thing is that the edit they did took out all the middle sections leaving just the opening theme and the same theme in the new key at the end. No flowing rhythmic changes, or big dynamic shifts... heh heh. She also asked me to write the the main title theme for what will hopefully be a whole DVD series. And hopefully there will be more work to follow... we'll see.

I do have a C3 in the house that I ran tie lines to when I built my studio, but I've yet to record it as it needs a little work. And Ivory is quick and easy and always sounds good. The only thing I wish it had is a "pedal noise" knob. So we could hear the dampers hitting and releasing from the strings. But I've used it as my only piano since I bought it a while back.

Nice drum sound too. Thanks Mazz... the drums are stock sounds from BFD. But I've got a mix template where I split all the sounds out and mix them like I would a live kit... parrallel compression, etc. It really helps get it to sit right.

Brian,Thanks for the info. I just installed Ivory on my computer this week and have begun using it on a track for the Henry Mancini listing. I'm looking forward to learning more about the program as I go. It seems to be pretty straight forward.I always felt the Kurweil piano sound 10 or so years ago was heads above everyone else. When I saw that it was the same guy doing the Ivory sampling I immediately checked it out.Chuck

Well as a Vince Guaraldi fan, I'm giving a compliment to say it has that Peanuts dancible beat with the infamous bass sound to it.Very nice.
