Singer Songwriter listing
Regarding this listing:SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS a la Bob Dylan, Replacements, Tommy Stinson, Nick Cave, etc. are needed immediately by the Music Supervisor of a major cable TV series. Stylistically they are open, but the tone should reflect the referenced artists carefully. Submissions must be received by 12:00 noon PST Tuesday, July 1, 2008. TAXI #D080701SSHere's what I'm not getting...The Replacements are considered singer/songwriter?That said, it says "the tone should reflect the referenced artists carefully", yet it lists artists that aren't exactly that close stylistically, and they throw in "etc", leaving me to wonder which other artists "etc" just might be, that I need to carefully reference...Hope I'm not being too anal about this, but I hate sending submissions that aren't on target...H

Re: Singer Songwriter listing
I think the "singer/songwriter" reference with the replacements has more to do with Paul Westerburg solo sounding stuff (Aching To Be etc.) than replacements' punky stuff like Bastards Of Young. And Tommy Stinson's solo acoustic stuff also sounds a lot like Westerburg songs (mostly I guess because he was the bassist in The replacements) but he sounds vocally a little like Dylan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fkuo7PQJ-8 So I'm going to say what they really want is stuff that sounds more like Paul Westerburg & not exactly The Replacements. Californication uses Tommy Stinson material ;-)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF9QpWnzW0kThe Dylan thing thrown in I can understand a little bit with this bunch but Nick Cave seems really different to me, maybe it's because I just don't think I "get" him. It does say "stylistically open", I guess they mean it!I submitted three to this; one I think has a chance because it's been forwarded for an ala Dylan thing before, one is new & I have no clue but submitted it because I had a comment from a forum member who said it sounded too much like Dylan (thanks ), and one that sounds like a straight ahead Replacements rock tune that I'm pretty sure doesn't have a chance (I'm really scratching my head as to why I even submitted it!).Good Luck-

Re: Singer Songwriter listing
They might be referring to only the Nick Cave stuff that's been used in soundtracks, like "Red Right Hand"? Jes' a thought.

I'm not familiar with that stuff. There were also some members in another thread seeking claification for this listing. Seems like maybe a few specific examples could have helped here.
