Lilly Allen submission returned
It was challenging and fun for me and DAMN I thought I nailed it. I do think I have a pretty good song here (like all parents think their children are the most beautiful, lol) Let's see what you guys think and suggest. I know it can be better and I want it to be a Smash Hit. Please give me your feedback!PS: I don't know how to post the actual song here, so if you don't mind clicking on my profile and checking out C'mon Over.http://www.taxi.com/jvbod69

I just listened to it and noticed that the song cut off just before the second chorus, [i hope that wasn't the one they listened to]I did have an older version up there before, anyway; I'm uploading the full version right now.xoxoxoJ

Hey Jacqueline!I took a listen and I think the tune is really good! My guess is that they really wanted something really quirky in the track like the stuff Mark Ronson does. Also, I wasn't feeling your emotion in the delivery like I did right off on the Otto's Daughter tracks. With a little work this one could be polished and get some forwards!!BTW - I never got to make it to your show after the Rally. I got sicker than a dog and was out of commission the whole week. I hope you had a great show. I did love your demo CD!!All the best,Cisco

Clearly it hits the mark. This is what tiks me about Taxi. They give you an "ala" then you hit it and somehow it's not right. There is somehow a misque between the person taking the add and the screener. Or the screener is so busy they don't take the time to listen to the track it is suppose to be like. The vocal in yours is covered sounding compared to Lilly. I think if they were brighter in the mix it would make all the difference.Could the screener return it for that reason? I think that would be stupid cuase the super could ask you to fix it if he wanted to use the track. But even still it is tuff when a music super wants somehing "ala" something. They have the tune in there head and if it is not just like it it is not good enough. But if it was like it it would be a copy right infraction. So we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.I wonder if anoyone got through.

1) I think if they were looking for ALA Lilly Allen, they would prefer the british accent, it just doesn't have the same vibe without the cheeky british vibe.2) I don't think your voice suits the style, but then again it could be because of what I imagine to hear when I think of Lilly Allen's stuff.3) The song wasn't quirky enough, if you listen to her style it's always got "childish" sounding instruments in it. I think there was this one song where she sings about her brother (the music video, he's a doll) and the whole instrumental piece sounds like childrens music. That's just my two cents, also take a listen to Kate Nash's stuff (similiar style to Lilly Allen), neither have a REAL great singing voice but because of the accent, the phrasing, the risque lyrics and the instruments, together it all works.Good luck in the future

I think this is a great track in it's own right but if Lilly Allen hadn't been mentioned it wouldn't have occurred to me that's what you were aiming at.So I suppose the screeners have got it right!
