trent; Again, good improvements. The descending pattern at :36 I think is a strong hook/riff. You might consider focusing even MORE on that, repeating it a couple times and then maybe building it up with octaves, or some sort of stabs in syncopation with it. I don't want to tell you specifically what to do of course, since it's your mix. Daniel; Cool groove. I think you have the fundamentals down here production-wise. Nice and full. One sound that is all the rage nowadays is 'sidechaining', and I think that's what I would do here too. That bright, sustained pad should be "pumped" by the kick rhythmically - how you do this depends on your sequencer. Here's how the effect works, in practice;www.soundtempest.net/sidechain.mp3The leads are pretty cool too, but the overall feel might be a little too bright for what they're looking for. I'm not sure. Simplifying a bit and alternating with some distorted low-register stuff as a sort of call-and-answer could result in a rougher, less floaty sound. Also consider a hihat pattern or two on the offbeats for add'l rhythmic interest.

Thanks again zircon for your help on this. It's really helped me in understanding more about electronica. My piece sounds much better. I will probably add more to the piece at a little bit later date and will definitely take your suggestions on that riff and try to work them up a bit more. The listing I was trying to work it up for had to be submitted today - so no more development for that one. I'm sure there will be others in the future that this could fit. Now I want to start work on the Classical Instrumental Pieces in Electronica style. I wanted to try a couple of different styles. Any info on where I can go to find out the different styles of electronica (the links in the taxi genre page didn't really provide a breakdown)? Thanks again for your help.Trent

Glad I could help! One source of breakdowns on the various electronic styles is the "Ishkur" guide, which is very tongue-in-cheek, but pretty informative.http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html

Interestingly, all three songs I submitted did not get forwarded. Normally I have about a 60% forward rate so I can't help but be a little surprised...Congrats to you, Michael, though I tried to listen to your song but for whatever reason the player did not load for me.
