operatic rock :)
Ah.... for the lovers of Queen & ELO (like me)..."DRAMATIC" MODERN ROCK SONGS (with vocals - no instrumentals) a la My Chemical Romance (think "Welcome To The Black Parade") and Muse ("Knights Of Cydonia") are again needed by the Project Director at a Los Angeles-based Music Library. Even something along the lines of Queen, ELO, and the Who could work, but it must sound current and contemporary and have that modern rock edge. The director mentioned the style "operatic rock" - that's what he's seeking. Think big, grandiose, dramatic, bombastic, and rocking. Amazing vocals, great songwriting, and outstanding production are all essential. Lyrical themes aren't too important, but your writing must be stellar. Bottom line is that they want new material that's going to grab them by the neck and demand their attention. This company is a new division of a very successful Commercial/Advertising House (they've run TAXI listings for years) and needs to ramp up their library quickly for the upcoming TV season. They offer a non-exclusive deal. If previously forwarded for D070510DR, please do not submit the same material. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. Just let me know if you need a few high notes (but remember I'm a mezzo)

For the love of God!!! Why did it have to be a dispatch! This would've been hilarious (well at least for my sense of humor)!!! I'd love to hear what you come up with if you get it done in time. Please let me know if you do.

Quote:I added some vocals, but it doesn't resemble the listing. So, here is the song anyways in some unnamed genre Shade and a Shadowfeels like a soft rock ballad to me - sounds like something Kalan Porter might do. Nice playing, warm vocals... maybe it would work for something else. My only crit is the verse melody is too much the same. Doesn't mean it isn't good. I enjoyed listening to it.

I'm reluctantly famous Last year when my first rejection thread was linked in one of those emails, in a matter of days the thread had about 6,000 hits which translated to several hundred listens to the songs mentioned. I don't recall the actual exact number, but it was a pretty decent spike from one email--- I still have people mention that, both here on the forum and other places.Congrats on the hype-- well deserved for all your hard work!Aub

Aub and Hummin'bird:Aub:There was a listing like this about....oh, 4-5 months ago. I sent something in and got a review back. Informational! Anyway, they're looking for big anthem stuff on this type thing, like Queen's We Will Rock You, etc. Apparently, the stress was on the anthem. Good luck, let us know how it works out for you. I thought you were already hot on the trail of another tune this weekend? You're a machine, I'm tellin' you!Bird:Loved what I read in the TAXI email. Good job! I'm sure that wasn't what you intended but hey, it's good PR for them (and that's what they're about) and you might get some yo'ownse'f. GREAT job!

At the risk of being the difficult ass that I am, I'm not sure that I agree that Queen's We Will Rock You is a necessarily a good example for this listing. Did someone in the know let you know that it would be?"DRAMATIC" MODERN ROCK SONGS, must sound current, have that modern rock edge, big, grandiose, dramatic, bombastic, and rocking. I suspect that on the back of My Chemical Romance's overwhelming success libraries are looking to ramp up this sound. As the listing suggests, check out 'The Black Parade' (or even Famous Last Words) by My Chemical Romance and it's unmistakable what's required. While Queen certainly are the godfathers of dramatic operatic rock, IMHO We Will Rock is not the most relevant of their catalogue for this. Albeit the bitching tune that it is On the other hand, that's just me Liam

Sorry, Liam, just posting what I heard based on the same type listing (including ala's) from a few months ago, according to the reviewer.
