This still needs a whole truckload of work on all the tracks & the mix & all that stuff, but I kinda like what I got so far...O Canadahttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=62513&stream=true

Hummingbird,I think it's got potential. But I think your voice is so strong that you should take out all the strings and piano in the background and sing those parts as well and make it completely a capella. That would totally make this otherwise very familiar piece of music fresh and unique. Just an idea.

Thanks Amos. I was kinda thinking about that and so your suggestion was welcome.I've posted an updated mix with just voices. I'd appreciate any feedback as working with voices is something I'm still learning about. Looking for broadcast quality.O Canadahttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=6251 ... trueThanks!!!

I didn't get to hear the piano/strings version but I like the acapella one jes fine. Lovely. I especially like the phrasing you chose for the backups, keeps the song moving.BEAUTIFUL vox, Hummin' bird. Lovely.

Hi Vikki,Very nice arrangment!I'm questioning your choice of reverb setting, or at least the level of it. To my ears, the reverb is a bit too loud. When you first start singing, it adds a phasey quality which I don't think you are intending to have for this arrangment.I couldn't tell if the backing vocals were in the same reverb or not. If not, try putting them in as well (after turning the return down!). This ultimately comes down to an aesthetic choice: 1. Do you want the vocals to sound like they're in a bigger room, or 2. Do you want a smaller, more intimate sound? If I were mixing this, I'd go for a more intimate sound overall, like you and your clones were singing in my living room One practice that you can try when using reverb is to turn the return all the way off and the sneak it in until you just start to hear it and then bring it down a tiny bit from there. Then try muting and un-muting it to see if you can tell when it goes away. On material such as this, you want a feeling of ambience, not an effect.Your music just keeps getting better and better!Mazz

Thanks...I had just finished watching a segment of Ken Burn's The War, and loved the solo piano in the background. That was my inspiration for them. Hey, I also got the directions from my other post on how to link tracks to this forum. Thanks again. Charlie
