Still (A Country Boy)
Here's a song that I wrote about my Dad, but I think anyone who came from the country to the city could relate. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy singing it. All feedback is much appreciated, SteveStill(c) Steven B. HickmanI was born backwoods Alabama wayAnd I can tell you now that I'm proud to sayThat I'm still...I can build a homeI can make some wineAnd when I give my wordYou will always findThat I will...And when I think way back in memoryI don't see no crime-filled concrete streets At all...And the things that made me who I amAre my mama and daddyAnd the blood of the LambThat's all...I'm just a catfishin', cottonpickin', mama's kitchen country boyI'm just a cottinpickin', mama's kitchen, catfishin' country boyAnd I'm proud to say, that I'm still...I'm still--a country boy These city folks and these city lightsCain't hide the glow of the starry nightsBack in the hills...And though these city folks Think I'm kinda strangeI can tell you now that I'll never changeCause they cain't killThat cottonpickin', catfishin', mama's kitchen, country boyI'm just a catfishin', mama's kitchen, cottinpickin' country boyAnd I'm proud to say that I'm still...I'm still--a country boy

hi Steve, this is different - unique - very catchy chorus - although it would seem to get a person all tongue tied and make it difficult for the listener to sing along with those changeupsbut I like it very much - did you post an audio file in peer-to-peer for this? - would like to hear it Cheryl

I haven't recorded it yet. This is one I just play on the guitar and haven't done much else with it. As soon as I do record it, however, I'll post it. Thanks for the good word, Steve
