Memory Lane

Post by linziellen » Sun Nov 09, 2008 8:38 am

Hi guys, I've been a bit quiet these last few days. Here's an older song that I didn't post here, I wrote it in the summer. The song has improved a little because I play it so often for the kids, but it's really just for fun. I couldn't fit the words "OF YOU" in there for a while because I struggle to sing and play at the same time...but practice makes perfect!I pictured a lil'old lady washing up the pots on a rainy day!As always the piano is out of tune. ThanksMemory Lane© Lindsey Ellen Jolivethttp://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.....&s ... 890Washing upWalking downMemory laneIt’s funny howEverythingLooks the sameI only close my eyesEvery now and againBut I’m dreamingAlways dreamingOf youMemory Lane Waking up Dressing gownOut in the rainLooks as though They were rightThe lady is insaneI only close my eyes Every now and againBut I’m dreamingAlways dreaming Of youMemory lane I only close my eyes Every now and againBut I’m dreamingAlways dreaming Of youMemory Lane

Nice song Linzi. The recording sounds like one of those old phonogarph recordings like Shirley Temple or something. I think its cool.Melody is really good and catchy.Maybe you could go to a local recording studio and pay to have a better quality demo done. You have a great voice. How about a version in French?? Would sound like those old WW2 songs that the GI's loved to listen to.M~M~

Yeah the melody is pretty catchy, lyrics are simple but set a nice picture, I think the simple lyrics make it all stand out more, less is more is true, I agree with Matt too, sounds like one of those old phonograph recordings! No suggestions from me, I bet the kids do love it

Thank you, seems a bit out of date doesn't it. I'm waiting for some kind of "back to the future" time machine thingy, then it might do well!I can't afford studio prices Matt, I'm still trying to get some equipment set up at home, might just sound better by then, well a little Thanks for listening,Linzi

okay, i lOVE this! i've got some friends who play western swing all over the US, and this totally sounds like something on their set list. do you mind if i e-mail it to someone to see if they'd be interested in covering it? no big deal right now, but it's better than it sitting in your file folder collecting dust, right? i'll PM you their website...erin

Cute song, Linzi. That out of tune piano is to die for. Really gives it a nickelodian kind of feel like an old phonograph. Nice job, Wig

What a great voice! It's a cute song with a catchy feel to it. This kind of quirky sound shows up a lot on commercials these days. Thanks for sharing it with us.
