For me, I avoid music with these kinds of topics. I get enough of this sad reality watching the news.Christi

Well, each to his own, but sometimes certain truths can be found in the darkside of life. I write the fluffy stuff too, but the darker side intrigues me. I like the song...although I agree with Suz that things could be tightened up. But BR1, from what I see here, you show so much promise...you explore the depths of the human soul, no matter how dark. And you're very prolific, so keep on pluggin' way.I don't know if I agree with Wes here....one of the best songs ever written was Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" and that became a major hit for them....and of course, it was about a kid who killed himself in class. Very tragic, and not a pretty subject, but it resonated with folks and became a major hit. Sometimes, our most controversial stuff hits home with the listeners. Here's the video of "Jeremy."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buOdFGnTKqI

OK this is the 18 post! That has to be better than 0 I'm very open to lyrics from all walks of life and personally I think this is a very powerful one. I'm not saying I agree with it but it's good to step away from the 'norm' from time to time, and who doesn't go to the cinema to watch a good horror movie from time to time!? We see this kind of thing in TV and film and never bat an eyelid. It almost makes for a refreshing change to read a song like this! Just my crazy late night opinion

Jchitty, your support is appreciated. Thank you. I agree, and don't enjoy keeping things out of the light, as it is.Linzi, 18 posts. *laughs* I definitely didn't expect this much. I certainly don't agree with the persona in the lyric either but that doesn't change it's existance. And, mm...horror. Gotta love it.Thanks for sharing your crazy late night opinion. Talk to you later.Cheers

Hey br 1,Thanks for posting these lyrics. I appreciate it. For the record, I understand what you're saying here and thanks for taking the risk (move over! Incoming! ). I can understand how some folks don't wanna glorify violence by writing songs about it but by the same token, some musicians (gosh, I wish all) do feel motivated to point out society's sometimes fatal flaws. Not like those who are the subject matter would recognize themselves but at least we recognize them. It's nice that you mentioned Christians as opposed to say, Muslims, who are really gettin' a bum rap these days from the actions of a few. Anyway, this is dark and I really like dark lyrics. Thanks! And hey, about the puppies and bunnies.....Dave, stop it! hahahahahha

Re: Christian Murderer on a Shooting Spree
Hmm, remember the song "Timothy" in the 1970s, all about Cannibalism? T'was a fairly big hit at the time.TIMOTHYTrapped in a mine what had caved inAnd everyone knows the only ones leftWere Joe and me and Tim.When they broke through to pull us freeThe only ones left to tell the taleWas Joe and me.Timothy, Timothy, where on earth did you go?Timothy, Timothy, God why don't I know?Hungry as hell no food to eatAnd Joe said that he would sell his soulFor just a piece of meat.Water enough to drink for twoAnd Joe said to me I'll take a swigAnd then there's some for you.Timothy, Timothy, Joe was looking at you.Timothy, Timothy, God what did we do?I must have blacked out just 'round then'Cause the very next thing that I could seeWas the light of the day again. My stomach was full as it could beAnd nobody ever got aroundTo findin' Timothy.Timothy, Timothy, where on earth did you go?Timothy, Timothy, God why don't I know?Timothy.... YeahO, Timothy....Timothy....Yeah, Timothy.... ------------I think that art is about exploring every aspect of existence, including the dark side that society often wishes remains hidden. Not that I'd want to write only about shadow things all day, nor about fluffy happy bunnies exclusively -- but I think each of us has the potential to be anything from perpetrators of the most hideous crimes to people of vision who can transform all humanity in amazing ways. Therein, in my view, lies the interesting thing about being human -- and about being artists who reflect the human condition. It's a deliciously complex thing. ,SuzOne does not become enlightenedby imagining figures of light, but bymaking the darkness conscious. - Carl Jung

Good one Suz,Hadn't thought of that song for a long time......and of course there's Jeremy by Pearl Jam, and I Don't Like Mondays by The Boomtown Rats. Great songs....very unsettling lyrics......and of course very disturbingly real........The danger for any artist is to use cardboard cutouts or strawmen for their characters, especially if the writer has an agenda and just wants to vent about some group he/she doesn't like and normally has little understanding of. Not saying that CMSS is this but my initial reaction to the title was oh no.....a guy with an axe to grind.....but thankfully it wasn't that at all......As I said before the lyrics have potential.....I hope that br1 works up something from this and post the result.
