I Wanna Be Famous

Post by jchitty » Sat May 31, 2008 2:04 am

I wrote this song during all the Britney Spears fallout this past year....America has a love hate relationship with people who are famous. This explores the toxic side of fame, both for the people involved in celebrity worship, and the 'objects' of their fame. This is a song I'd like to demo, but I don't know what category it would fall into. I frequently get comments from the screeners that my lyrics aren't run of the mill, unique, whatever, hehe and sometimes, this is good, and sometimes this is BAD, hehe. I like to do social commentary songs....anyway, could something like this translate in the commercial markets? I Wanna Be FamousVerse 1Damn the criticsThe talking headsDamn the torpedosFull speed aheadI wanna be famousWanna make you forgetAbout the warThe economyOr your neighbor next doorI wanna be famousChorus:Spread me on a tabloid pageLove me, hate meFeel some rageBut don't ignore or make me go awayGotta be in the news todayI wanna be famousVerse 2And when you're blueAbout your lifeJust look at meGoing under the knifeI wanna be famousAnd if your worldMakes you cryAnd escape for youI can surely provideI wanna be famousChorus:Spread me on a tabloid pageLove me, hate meFeel some rageBut don't ignore or make me go awayI gotta be in the news todayI wanna be famous

Hi jchitty,I'm never quite sure if I should jump in with my 2 cents or not....but I love writing....so....here I am again.I really love the message here ....the cost of fame..and if you don't keep yourself in the public eye, you're lost, on the back page...as I read the verses....I wanted to end them with either: "I've got to be famous" or "Cause I've gotta be famous"....and is there a rule that says the last chorus, last line couldn't read "Cause I've got to be in the news today or "you won't know I'm famous"Just my thoughts and you can ignore them but I would really LOVE to hear more songs with this message....Can't wait for the music... Best Lqrose

Best Lqrose Hey, Lqrose. You know I loved your song, "A Guest In This House," so I value your opinion. I've thought about toying with the 'I wanna be famous' line. Thanks for your thoughts! I like the tense of "I gotta be famous' too...it fits better.

Chits I didn't get to reply before the big bang! This is a great lyric, quirky but powerful message. I say yes it could work in the commercial markets but that's just MO. Do you have an idea of the music, upbeat/pop or country or ...?Linz

Thanks folks, Ontario, Lindsey...y'alls opinion means a lot. No, this is not country or upbeat.....it's really more edgy, maybe rock or alternative. I just now had a person who loves the lyric express a lot of interest in this song, so we'll see where that goes. In fact, I've gotten several e-mails about this lyric....I didn't think I had much here, but this seems to be a lyric everyone is interested in....now if the screeners like it, I'll be happy, LOL. Seems like the lyrics I don't care about that much are the ones people like the most, hehe. I guess it's about removing yourself from your work. BTW, my funds aren't in the best of shape right now, so this song may have to be put off for now.Oh, and I owe some folks e-mails and replies on posts....I haven't forgotten about you, but I've just had some business come up that I've had to attend to...I'll write you soon. This thread made me smile and lightened my day....thanks.

I love it the way it is now. The "I wanna be famous" lyric I like, it adds to the song. A very catchy tune.
