lwj001,You've made my day here . Now it's your turn to educate me 'cause I don't know nothin' about country music beside a little Willie Nelson. What does "instrumental" mean? Is this the bridge? What is each line of 4 lines? Verses? Is there a chorus?I know Country is different from pop or rock and that it's OK to have a whole song as verses with no repeated "chorus".BTW, Jason Blume is mostly a country songwriter who concentrate on lyrics an melody. You can get his book used on Amazon for a few bucks. He also mentionned that country lyrics were the most difficult because they were more important than in other styles.Vermeer

Although I have written a lot of country/cowboy/western songs, I do not claim to be an expert at it. I'm still learning.Your question:"What does "instrumental" mean? Is this the bridge? What is each line of 4 lines? Verses? Is there a chorus?"Instrumental is where you insert only music, which can be anything from guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, piano, etc. It is usually a repeat of the music behind the chorus. It is not the bridge. A lot of country music does without a bridge, as does bluegrass. Each of the 4 lines is a 'verse' or 'stanza'. I don't find country songs hard to write. Basically, set a theme and write a story around it. Some of the other forumites might want to add their thoughts.
