Martin,I use a library called "First Call Horns" from Big Fish. I compose all the horn parts myself. I used to play trumpet and was a big "horn band" fan (Tower of Power, Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Earth Wind and Fire, etc.) so I'm familiar with the sound. Thanks for listenting,MazzEDIT: I should say a huge component to the horn sound is the Plate 140 reverb from the UAD-1 card. The samples are pretty dry so a quality reverb is key to getting a fat, smooth, horn sound. I love the sound of a plate reverb and the one in the UAD-1 card is amazing. It's modeled after 3 of them in The Plant in Sausalito, just over the Golden Gate bridge from San Francisco.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

hey mazz, thanks for the infos.I think I will purchase the plate 140 since uad has a voucher of $100 at the moment (I have two cards), so this plugin for $ 50 is a good deal I guess..

Do you have the UAD-1 Fairchild Compressor? I use it on drums and on the master buss all the time. It is another amazing piece of software. Usually I set it so it is barely working but it really glues things together and gives great punch to the mixes and/or drums. A must have in my book!Mazz

Yeah Mazz... I was big into TOP in college... played in a horn band. Fun stuff. We even exited our wedding to a TOP song: "I Like Your Style".
