That's not weird, that's understandable. When you're industry-driven and you're successful (I read every single thing on your website, btw), it would only make sense that your ear is geared toward that, not toward some inner sense of self-expression.On the flip-side, whenever you're writing for a listing or for a client, that IS your music, just somewhat "channeled." Jes my 2 cents.

Yeah, that's true. I guess it's sorta like how all keyboard players want to be drummers. And thanks for checking out the site!

I know! And all drummers want to be up front! Believe me, checking out your site was a pleasure. It's beautiful there. I think my brother lives not far from you, up in Foresthill. (well, not far being relative to someone like me)You did a great job on the studio. Wish I lived down the street, dangit.

Ho, Brother, did I ever need to read this thread today! My life has been stumbling through some serious changes lately, not the least of which is my sudden, new, LOWER-paying job. Feeding myself is becoming an issue. Keeping a roof over my head is not far behind it in line. And my faith and patience are being tested. I'm tired, exhausted, working longer hours for less money and lonelier than I want to admit. I'm in serious need of something to believe in.Then I read this thread, and I realized (remembered ) what a huge acknowledgment each and every forward really is (six forwards so far this year, with only 8 songs to work from) and how those forwards alone are proof that I am MILES beyond where I was last year on this same path; and that's absolutely a direct result of my decision to join TAXI. Thank you TAXI, and thanks to all of you for helping me hold on to my belief in this (long and winding) road I've chosen.jchitty, congrats. That's fantastic, and I couldn't agree more. Every single postcard and certificate for each forward is already either on my fridge or framed and hanging on my wall. Silly, maybe, but a legitimate reason to remind myself to say thank you. Thanks, again, you guys.Tedtedsingingfox

Ted, you hang in there. I've been where you at and it's the pits. You'll find your way. Keep going. That many forwards on those songs is a GREAT sign. And hey, you can spend some time here and cut that loneliness back some too. If nothing else, some of these guys are very entertaining. They've certainly made me laugh out loud more than once.

Thanks for the encouragement, squidlips. An added reason for concern of mine (that I forgot to mention earlier) is that my first-year TAXI membership expires in one month, and I have NO clue where the money is going to come from. But it will come. I have to believe it'll be there when I need it.In the meantime, I think I should write a song about money. That oughta help. And believe me, these forums have been a great source of information, inspiration, and more than a few belly laughs. Thanks, again.Ted

Yeah, Ted, mine expires in a month too. I'm dropping some cash on required living things so it's a question whether I'm gonna be able to re-up. But if you can have faith then me too.

Ted, if you write a song about money, make sure there's a dance to go with it.

Hey, Sevenharkey. As scary as it sounds, I was the Tennessee State Disco Dancing Champion (along with my female partner) back in 1978; and choreographing that dance may be less difficult than you might think. OK, I'm suddenly (slightly) horrified to have just admitted that to all of you, but sometimes the truth can't be avoided.Regardless, I'll start working on the steps when I get home tonight. Fair enough? Thanks for the suggestion.Ted
