“New Start’Drivin’ Down the Road,All he could see is snow,Runnin from the pain,That came with his wife’s mistake.Runnin from it all again,Hopin’ someday they will end.(Chorus)And he cries,While he drives,Wondering what he did wrong,Listenin’ to every song,That’s speaks right to his heart,Sayin’ I need a new startJust turned nineteen,Think he’s wild and free,Decided to go and get drunk,And have a little funCallin’ from the cell,Sayin’, I’m in jail(Chorus)And he cries,While he tries, To explain to the judge,Why life’s tough. And he’s sorry from the bottom of his heart,And he says, he just needs a new start.Losin her battle with her disease,Sayin I love you babyShes holdin’ his hand,As she gets him to understandShe says, don’t worry, we’ll meet again,But for now I gotta go, my friend(Chorus)And he cries,While she says goodbye,To go to heavens gate,Knowin she ain’t in pain,And she loves him with all of her heartAnd she got a new start.Shes gotta new start.Copyright 2006 Matt Lee

Re: "New Start" Reveiw
Hi countrywriter, how are you doing? Nice to see you here again. I've made some comments on your lyric below, and the main thing I am trying to tell you is that you have too many ideas in one song.idea - he's runnin' from his wife's mistake againidea - he's 19, went out on a hell-raiser and had to get bailed outidea - she's dying, but they'll meet againI think it would be better if you focussed on one of these stories. So, for example, if she's dying, then perhaps he remembers the special things she did or the special ways she stood by him in the past, and how he's going have to make a new start without her. Or, if he's running from her mistake, then show us what she did again, and how many times she's done that, and why he's stayed with her even when she's screwed up & hurt him, and how he's somehow going to make a new start without her. Hummin'bird Drivin’ Down the Road,All he could can see is snow,he's runnin from the pain,That came with of his wife’s mistake.Runnin from it all again,Hopin’ someday they will end. (who is "they"?)(Chorus)And he cries,While he drives,Wondering what he did wrong,Listenin’ to every song,That speaks right to his heart,Sayin’ he I needs a new startJust turned nineteen, (you lost me, he's in his car, and then he's 19 and in jail?)Think he’s wild and free,Decided to go and get drunk,And have a little funCallin’ from the cell, (did he get drunk in jail?)Sayin’, I’m in jail(Chorus)And he cries,While he tries, To explain to the judge,Why life’s tough. And he’s sorry from the bottom of his heart,And he says, he just needs a new start.Losin her battle with her disease, (I'm confused - in verse 1 you say he's "running from his wife's mistake - and now she's dying from cancer?")Sayin I love you babyShe's holdin’ his hand,As she gets him to understandShe says, don’t worry, we’ll meet again,But for now I gotta go, my friend(Chorus)And he cries,While she says goodbye,To go to heavens gate,Knowin she ain’t in pain,And she loves him with all of her heartAnd she got a new start.
