Hi Rick,As a whole I like the song and it's theme, though I'm not sure how many artists would be willing to sing this (even if they are all getting old)...Mick Jagger is still walking the 'street of love' even though he should be warming the 'comfy chair' at his age. Anyway, a few niggles. The first verse has a rhyming pattern going on with the words within the lines of the verse and between end words.Today, WayLife, WifeDayPlayGrown, Own HomeBut that pattern disappears in the second verse and seems a bit random.Honey, ChairYou, PrayerBy, SideBeenLove ManWhy? Is it intentional? For me it throws the song pattern and I find it hard to sing in any way that makes sense (unlike the first verse). Perhaps you have a particular way of phrasing the verses that works...I just can't find it myself. If you ever released this, don't you think Michael J. would have a word or two to say? Good luck.

O.K. this is the deal! DEFINITELY NOT a Micael Jackson fan and was not aware of his "hit song" with this same title.....so guess I'll be changing the title to my song......thanks 53mph

Also 53mph...understand your point of view and yes phrasing the words is "the issue" as to the singing of subsequent verses...I don't have a pro-demo recording made, but I have one made with my limited vocal and guitar abilities, could send over email (I guess) but don't have resources for others to go to my website (if I had one) and download from there...or broadjam Hopefully if and when this takes place, others may understand by hearing and give a more definitive critique.....thanks Rick

I've submitted this song "lyrics only" for review to a "song/demo/publishing service" who says they only choose to "work with" songs they feel, and what they consider "good" Well I got an email back and "they" claim they like the song alot. Is it my responsibility to pay for a demo? they are wanting me to sign a "publishing contract" giving them "non-exclusive" right to promote/pitch the song in an effort to secure a major recording and 25% of publishing rights. But....I would still have to pay for the demo..help me out folks! Should I be excited and cautious or just cautious...I know that "NO" publisher can guarantee that any song will be recorded.....BBB in "their" area of the country has "NO" complaints filed against "them"

Hi relay, sorry for the late reply.I don't have any direct experience of this but I would still say be a bit cautious. If they are happy for you to go away and get a demo cut on with your own money that you then own the recording rights to, there's no problem. You can use this self same demo to pitch the song to other people. However, if they start saying you have to use such-and-such studio to record it at a cost of $xxxxx , and then they own the recording rights....be a bit cautious. If they insist on using one recording studio you may find that they own a share in that studio (or take a cut of profit). If they are happy for you to do that yourself then I would see it as a good sign. Shop around, get some advice, and have a great demo cut. Even if they then decide they don't like it....it's your for the keeping. The worst experience I've heard of is a friends band who got a demo deal with a semi-major label. They received a small quantity of money to make one demo. The label didn't like the first cut so they asked them to go away and re-do it...."oh and why not add another song to the CD just for fun"....didn't like that/do it again..."oh and add another song, just for fun"....and so on and so on for over a year. At the end of it The label said that they didn't want to sign the band..."oh and we own all those recordings so you can't use them with anyone else".They ended up spending more than the initial money given to them and were unable to sign to another label that was interested during that time because they were stuck in this demo deal. Bummer!
