What If Life

Post by good4somethingbum » Mon Oct 01, 2007 10:34 am

What if LifeWhat if life is a young boy huggin’ on a stray basset houndOr a tearful man at a pet cemetery outside townWhat if life is a simple song that’s written as we goAnd time is an unseen gift that says we should take it slowWhat if time is a red hawk’s wings with their roots in the windOr a winding river that dries before reaching its endWhat if time is an old jar waiting for the rarest roseAnd love is the only ground where that flower growsWhat if love is a necklace a boy makes from seashells and stringAnd she’s wearing it on the beach when he shows her that ringWhat if love is an old memento in a nursing home drawerIt’s how she lives on as he scatters her ashes by the shoreO what if life is all those thingsTime passing and love here then goneThen I’d say life’s the greatest giftBefore the great beyond…©2007 Robert George

I loved my Meemaw (Southern for granny) more than anything in the world.Maybe we can do a tribute thread to your grandmother and to all the grandmothers here.....folks can talk about all the wonderful things things their grannies taught them.

thanks again folks...I'm actually a little stunted when it comes to talking about stuff like that. I heard some bad news a couple of years back and was totally lost for words. but when I hung up the phone I wrote Silver Shadows in a flash. I don't remember the lines of that piece but I do remember writing it.
