Before They Were Stars
Before They Were StarsI rode through a midnight forest on my pintoHitched him to an old pine by the frozen lakeAnd the sky above me was like heaven’s windowWhere I came to pray and starlight came to skateEv’ry point of light shined so bright and pureAnd on my knees I wondered what they wereBefore they were starsBefore they were starsWhen my dance of flesh and bone has gone the distanceThen I’ll waltz back to the dust that I came fromO but when a weary star winks from existenceDoes it melt into a million brilliant crumbsWhen I closed my eyes and the Lord moved nearMy heart could sense how those lights appearedBefore they were stars and the universe was darkThey were like reason waiting for a poet’s rhymeAnd silver shapes waiting on the forging of timeThe One who was there, He showed me in prayerWhat they were before they were starsI shook that horse’s reins and he obeyedso we rode homeward silentlysomewhere beyond the lights that heaven madethe Good Lord had a plan for mebefore they were stars and the universe was darkthey were just colors waiting for a painter’s brushunseen before creation felt a human touchThe One who was there, He showed me in prayerHow I shined before they were starsBefore they were starsBefore they were stars…©2007 Robert George

Beyond the excellent imagery, this lyric dances to the harmonics that are the corporal world we experience in this dimension. This one is a special pearl Robert.bc

I think this lyric was the absolutely your best ever. Perhaps useless for a Pop or Country song, but it's so deep. It reminds me of Joni Mitchell's songs. Once again, I am in awe of your gift.

I can see why TAXI allows you a whole section..... your lyrics pop with imagery and make you feel like you're there......I can feel the sky above me in your song.....brings me back to times when I'd sit alone on a hilltop somewhere and ponder the state of the universe. Great stuff!
