Lipstick MoonI'd loved Susie since the seventh gradeI'd tease her and steal fries off her plate at lunchgot the nerve to ask her to senior prombut we left after some old disco songand a weak cup of punchspilled TJ Swan on my rented tuxdriving washboard roads in my dad's old truckparked 'neath a pine by the railroad tracksa train of desire said that night wouldn't be backso we danced barefoot to whippoorwillsand coming over the eastern hillswas a lipstick moonblushing like a rose in bloomnow whenever I make loveI shut my eyes and see traces ofthat lipstick moonwe had all summer but come Fallshe went to college near St. Paul ten hours awaybut me, I just learned to lay brickon the school of hard knocks scholarshipand tried to save my payone day I bumped into her mom and she saidSusie was engaged to some guy in pre-medwell, I got jug of TJ Swannand sat out list'ning to nightbird songsI wondered as a crimsom moon crawled the hillsif Susie still recalled our bed of daffodils'neath a lipstick moonblushing like a rose in bloomnow whenever I make loveI shut my eyes and see traces ofthat lipstick moonwell, nights are long, hours wear on...moons slowly fade aboveand with time, some hearts don't shine...like when they first fell in loveso it was three years...maybe moreI saw Susie in Herb's Hardware store with no wedding ringshe stuttered and tried to explainI said "no need' cos I still felt the same about thingsthen we drove to the hills once againand waltzed to whippoorwill songs on the windsome hearts fade like a midnight mistbut with us time couldn't wash away the kissof a a lipstick moona lipstick moon(c)2006 Robert George

CG,I have not read all 800, but what I have read does contain everything from merely good to startling imagery. Does your stuff have music too? Do you play instruments?

thanks horace! I'm strictly a lyricist but I do have some demoes up at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... dID=431939 . several have been signed here and there. hope you like at least a few.
