Seeds of TodayOn my first leave in the Navyfriends all thought I was crazyheading home insteada raising hell in CancunI missed my folks and that farmhouseand even how those barn owlskept me awake up in my old roomfound some model ships in a drawercos my young dreams sailed far from shorethose dreams became a blur, yet somehow they wereseeds of todaythat time couldn't blow awaywho knew little things I did long agowould land in my heart and grownow they're rooted deep in my mindif I dig through my mem'ries I findseeds of todayI looked up an ex-cheerleaderwho still worked at the theaterand she snuck me up to the balconythe sweetest thing on the high seas isthe salty kiss of ocean breezesbut they faded fast when that gal kissed meyears later she took my ring and namebut she knows the water's my old flameyeah, the ocean and my missus, both their kissesare seeds of todaythat time couldn't blow awaywho knew little things I did long agowould land in my heart and grownow they're rooted deep in my mindif I dig through my mem'ries I findseeds of todaynow we head to the beach and take our son alonghis dreams dance to the ocean's songif tomorrow makes a sailor of our sonI know he sprouted fromthe seeds of todaythe seeds of today(c)2006 Robert George
