Babe in the WoodsWhen I was an Eagle scout,my troop leader sent me outon a wilderness test one daythough I got lost in the woods,I'd never found nothing as goodas that girl bathing in the lakedripping wet she took my arm,led me to her little farmthrough the trees about a milethey said I didn't try my best,I failed my wilderness testeven though nothing was as wildas the babe in the woodsuntamed as the windshe lived alone in the pinesand rarely saw menpassion like a pantherthat a young guy understoodI learned the law of the junglefrom the babe in the woodsI knew lots of outdoor tricks,I'd started fires with sticksand survived by eating plantsif I tried again I'd pass,so I broke down and askedmy troop leader for one more chanceI wasn't back by sundown,so they sent out tracking houndsand rescue choppers skimmed the treesthey found me the next day,I got my badge anywaycos they caught me in a bed of leaveswith the babe in the woodsuntamed as the windshe lived alone in the pinesand rarely saw menpassion like a pantherthat a young guy understoodI learned the law of the junglefrom the babe in the woods(c)2004 Robert George
