Re: ONOFFON
Today's edition of ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is a little different. I want to share some interesting views expressed by Bono when U2 was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. This is what was said -"Bono acknowledged that U2 wouldn't have been able to start and flourish in today's music industry, which is suffering from a lack of long-term vision today. It was Frank Barsalona, the talent agent and fellow inductee, who helped U2 get its start. "I would like to ask the music business to take a look at itself and ask itself some hard questions because there would be no U2 the way things are right now," Bono said. "That's a fact."In the pressroom after the ceremony, Bono elaborated on the sentiment, noting that Springsteen didn't have a hit single for 10 years and it was questionable if Neil Young ever had a "hit" single. In today's marketplace, if you don't have a hit single, you don't get a second chance."When someone of the international stature of Bono makes these kinds of statements, the 'music industry' should really sit up and take note....

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is my personal SSP - I recorded THE PERFECT RADIO SHOW today - everything went smooth as silk and just felt great!I featured an amazing tenor saxophonist named Steve White. He has been called a cross between Lester Young, Zoot Sims, and Wardell Gray. In fact, the legend has it that one night at the Embassy Auditorium, Steve White, Zoot Sims, and Wardell Gray got into three way tenor duel, with White making the others look bad. He really is amazing!Of course, Harry Babasin was on bass and also the producer on his own label. It will air in three weeks, to those in Riverside and San Bernardino counties... Thursday, May 26th, at midnight...

Re: ONOFFON
Happy Friday the 13th!!!!Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is.... this board!!!!After being a member here for a year and four months, I've just discovered that I'm the fifth highest poster at the TAXI boards with 652 posts, more than 400 of those on this thread alone, and after the view count rollover at 4,000, this thread has had 6,400+ views!!!!! Of course, a thousand of those views are me, when I post and read the occasional comment from Drew... ... but, still, that's a LOT of exposure right here at the TAXI boards...Thanks TAXI for providing a forum where I can so blatantly promote our music without being chastised and flamed beyond recognition...

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is an email I received yesterday morning from the RRadioMusic website - "Von: Congratulations. "Mardi Gras" has unseated one of the previous top songs listed on RRadioMusic.com's World Music page - http://www.rradiomusic.com/artists/world.htm Your song is now among the best 10 world music tracks available for online radio programmers to sample." They provide content to a network of over 460 stations with more than 10,000,000 listener hours per month. BTW - this is doubly cool since, also included in their World Top 10 is the song, "Majiker", from Zenpool's Kharmonics CD, in which Kirk so graciously allowed me to play bass on. My first internet collab. How cool is that?

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is an invitation from a new site in preparation to launch that I'm not at liberty to yet divulge - the preface on the email I received this morning went like this -"Something very big and exciting is underway, and if you have received this email, it is because, in our estimation, you are not just independent musicians and composers; you are quite probably the most innovative artists in your genres. Now you don’t have to be fully 100% convinced of that… it’s just that we are and we sent you this email!"When all is set to go, I'll be happy to announce it here. Until then....

Re: ONOFFON
I've been M.I.A. for a few... but I'm back...Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is an excerpt of an email I received a few years ago when we appeared in a magazine from the U.K. called MP3, from an Mp3.com artist I had reviewed -"Dear Von and Onoffon,Thanks so much for your support and your review. Onoffon has been so successful that I actually heard of the band from a British magazine, one I can't find anymore called MP3. Your Mardi Gras song is my favorite, it has a beautiful Dream of the Blue Turtles sound with a wonderful Latin beat. I am so happy that you like my music, since I respect you as an artist highly. Thanks."This artist actually found the magazine and mailed it to me - now being an honored part of our archives. But, I tried to contact the publishing company and the magazine had gone out of business. Wouldn't you know that when I do get a little press, I don't even know about it, and then the magazine goes out of business. What can you do?
