Re: ONOFFON
ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is my appearance on Zenpool's Kharmonics CD - on which I play bass on the song, "Majiker". The CD received an excellent review from the International Online Music Magazine -International Online Music Magazinehttp://www.dgmpublishing.com/IOM/CDReviewsZenpool.htmReview of Zenpool's Kharmonics"Working with some of the world's most notable musicians that includes Von Babasin (OnOffOn) from L.A., and Steve Hall (The Questionnaires) from England, Carl and his entourage have pulled off another extraordinary achievement in Kharmonics' - a highly engaging assortment of front line progressive rock and horizon brightening electronika. This album is without doubt, a masterpiece of collective musicianship and advanced production techniquery and this review is here to explain exactly why that's a fact..."Sincere thanks to Kirk from Zenpool for including me in his line-up of international collaborative musicians and the International Online Music Magazine for helping to define the online independent music movement...

Re: ONOFFON
Hope everyone is having a good Memorial Day weekend - respect to all our fallen servicemen who've given their lives for freedom and democracy throughout history...As today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day, I have just been informed that one of the largest Progressive Rock web radio stations would like to include our CDs in their playlists... after sending our two CDs in for review consideration, I have just received this response -Aural Moon :: The Net's Progressive Rock Gardenhttp://www.auralmoon.com/"Von and ONOFFON,I don't see it as a problem to solicit opinions. Part of the problem with NOT seeking them is that you never know if you're going in the right direction. Seeking an opinion from one source is just as bad. Go for a wide view. You never know what you're going to find out.Anyway, yes, after a few listens, I must say I'm impressed. Very good production quality. It has a very nice jazzy/bluesy kinda feel with some significant fusion elements. Another SERIOUS upside to this is that, unlike a lot of groups that do this type of music, they don't get so wrapped up in their riffs and jams that they end up bogging down and tripping over themselves. It MOVES.If you don't mind, I'd like to upload them to the station and get them on the playlist.Whaddya say?Roger"With sincere gratitude to Roger and Aural Moon, we respectfully accept...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a return to the prog radio station from yesterday's post, Aural Moon. It seems that mere hours after they announced their desire to include our CDs, they announced their official inclusion in their archives -Aural Moon :: The Net's Progressive Rock Gardenhttp://www.auralmoon.com/"Greetings and salutations, folks!I took the initiative this weekend to add a stellar set of albums by our own ONOFFON. Their Surrender Now and Your Mind albums have been uploaded with the blessings of Von.I highly recommend that y'all give this stuff a listen. Good jazzy feel to a lot of it with some serious symphonic prog as well. A VERY well rounded repertoire, in my not-so-humble opinion.Roger"Now THAT'S cool!!!!!To give you an idea of other playlist additions to their station, take a look at this partial list that came before us -* Gentle Giant - Acquiring The Taste* Gentle Giant - Free Hand* Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant* Gentle Giant - The Missing Piece* Hidria Spacefolk - Balansia* Little Atlas - Surface Serene* Nima and Merge - Merge* Nima and Merge - Separate Worlds* Players - Players * Rare Blend - Infinity* Return To Forever - Light As A Feather* Return To Forever - Live* Tangerine Dream - InfernoGroups like Gentle Giant, Rare Blend, Tangerine Dream, and Return to Forever!!!!!!!That is some rarified air! Thanks again to Roger and Aural Moon...

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is our inclusion in the launch of a new website I referred to in an earlier post. It's called WOMDA and it consists of a very exclusive clientele of the online music community -"Hello,The WOMDA website has now been launched along with a major press release: http://www.womda.com/womda/index.htm We are now targeting independent record labels and once we have a core collection of some of the leading labels, we’ll issue our first prime newsletters.Your memberships are designed to show the world that you are outstanding artists… you will see it appear more on record label sites than at artist sites as we have had the unenviable task of narrowing down our artist membership from literally hundreds. The artist logo is confirmation of your membership to WOMDA and is already included in your CD Reviews pages at IOM magazine. While we concentrate on attracting label membership, we’re looking at getting IOM to press exclusively for members to begin withThanks for your support and for your music.regards..."ONOFFON is honored to have been chosen for this association - as we continue to gain more and more of the independent industry's respect, we are very close to the official release of our new CD (of which I now have copies of - waiting for our bar codes to deliver to CD Baby)...

Re: ONOFFON
ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is our first listener email from the progressive radio station Aural Moon that just recently added our music to their playlists -"Awesome, Von! I'm listening to "The Gift Must Always Move" right now, and loving it. You guys are great. Let me say how much I enjoy your music, and your playing. As a bass player myself, I know what goes into it, and you are good.See you at the moon... My best, Roger from Vermont"As nice as awards and reviewer comments are, listeners who take the time to stop and write comments like these are what it's really all about... thanks to Roger from Vermont for his kind words...

Re: ONOFFON
I haven't been by much since getting our new CDs - so...Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is me going to the post office and shipping our first order of our new CD to CD Baby.Their going to have this exclusively, at least for a while. They will have the physical CD available and we will be signing it up for their digital distribution deal also - making the tracks available at the 30 digital distribution sites that our other two CDs can also be found.I've been literally overwhelmed by all the work I've had to do... All for the love of my art... I'll be announcing the official release once CD Baby has it on their site...

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is another stellar review left on our CD Baby - "Bridge to Presage" page - this time from guitarist, Steve Hall, of The Questionnaires -"Bridge to Presage"http://www.cdbaby.com/onoffon3Five Stars!Accessible jazz of the highest qualityReviewer: Steve Hall "This is a beautiful album. It very cleverly puts all the inventiveness of jazz in a number of modal frameworks that keep it accessible, so that everyone from the most discerning jazz-buff to the everyday listener will be hit by its melodic and harmonic beauty. When you try to describe something as rich as this, you end up getting a bit loquacious, even a bit pretentious, so a better way to give you an idea of what it's like would be to say that it's currently on my shelf between Kenny Burrell's 'Midnight Blue' and McCoy Tyner's 'The Real McCoy'. It's that good."Our sincere thanks to Steve Hall for such a tremendous review...

A nice announcement of our new CD release is today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day -WOMDAhttp://www.dgmpublishing.com/womda/"The long awaited third stunning album from award winning OnOffOn; "Bridge to Presage" has finally been released. The album features Don Lake on guitars, Von Babasin on bass, and Dave Goode on drums, with the addition of super sax meister, Glen Garrett, and pianist, Marcus Duke to complete the domestic line-up. OnOffOn were recently awarded International Online Music magazine's 2005 "Artist of the Year" award which recognized the band's musicianship and compositional skills, as well as their production excellence that was very much evident on their previous release 'Your Mind'.
