Quote:Von,How did you come upon the name Onoffon?NomiCongrats on all of your successes, Nomi! I hope they keep coming to you in the new year...The name is quite simple actually. It comes from the front of the old Fender amplifiers - they have a three position toggle switch that reads "On-Off-On". Up is on, middle is off, and down is on. No deep inner meaning... Happy new year to you!

A Mixposure feature is the first ONOFFON SSP of the new year. After playing a fully raucous and kick *ss New Year's Eve gig last night with my rockin' cover band, I got up this afternoon (yes... afternoon ) to this email -"You're in a genre spotlight!Hello, you've been featured in a genre spotlight at Mixposure.com by Paul Nery. Here is a link to the spotlight page: http://www.mixposure.com/spotlight.php?gid=416If you would like to show your appreciation to the contributor who added you, please use the LEAVE A COMMENT link on the Genre Spotlight page!Congratulations and have a good day.--------MixposureHear and be heard" It's the "Spotlight on Progressive Music" page - the link features our song, "The Gift Must Always Move".Our thanks to Paul Nery and the gang at Mixposure for giving us a very cool new year's feature!!!!Happy New Year - one and all!!!!!! http://www.mixposure.com/spotlight.php?gid=416

Alright 2007!!!!! This year is already starting out strong! As you all know, I've been very busy with the one thousand and two things I do daily, so I've let a few other things slip by me.I received a phone call last evening from the president of the International Online Music Awards, congratulating me on winning the award for 2007 Best Bass Player!!!! How cool is that - I didn't even know I had been nominated. He also let me know that Dave Goode, ONOFFON beat shaman, also won for 2007 Best Drummer!Since we didn't release any new music over the last year, I didn't even think about the possibility of receiving any nominations, but, what a cool honor... There is a list of nominee finalists and the recipients on IOMAs Hall of Fame page -IOMAs Hall of Fame 2004-2007http://www.rcatcommunications.com/IOMAs/fame.htmlWhile both Dave and I were also nominated last year in the same categories, neither of us won, so this is especially nice that we both took home the honors! Thanks to the community at IOMA for their votes of support...

Quote:Thanks Dave - thanks Nomi! They are very cool people at IOMA - they're based in Canada. Along with the web-based graphic awards, they have sent me official numbered certificates in .pdf files that can be printed out and framed. The original Artist of the Year award we won, they mailed to me in its frame, with an engraved brass plaque. It's really quite nice and sits on a shelf in my house - that's a digital pic I took of it on the .jpg. They're not Grammys but they feel very nice just the same...

Quote:OnOff,I guess it is time I listened to some of your stuff. I have spent a fair bit of time listening to some of the top dogs around here--like Matto, Ern and Dave, just to see how high the bar is. I haven't reported on any of this because I figure those guys surely ought to know how good they are and I would not be able to tell them anything they did not already know.I will just click on your screen name to get where I'm going, unless you want to direct me otherwise. Thanks horacejesse - I hope you like some of what you hear. All of us have different styles - it's fun to hear the contrasting ideas - after all, we're all working with the same twelve notes. Our stuff is definitely different...
