Taylor Hicks

Post by jchitty » Fri Nov 14, 2008 6:45 am

My neighbors across the street are good friends with Taylor Hicks. As you know, he's from B'ham. He visits here quite frequently...their connection to him is through their son. He's been a lifelong friend of his, and they were roomates in college. I never wanted to press that connection 'coz I don't like to bug people. Just recently though, I gave them one of my CDs and they really loved some of my songs, and they want to pass them onto Taylor. I didn't even ask them too...I just gave them a CD 'coz they always wanted to listen to some of my songs. They volunteered to do it. Well, since they asked me, Elser and I did "Vodka and Smoke" for this purpose since Taylor really loves jazz songs in that 70's style. I'm not to sure about giving Taylor some of my country songs, (although I'll probably have them pass those along too, what the hell) so Els and I had that song sitting around for a year. Right now, Taylor's on Broadway, but when he returns to B'ham (probably for the holiday), they're gonna give him the CD. Nothing may come of it, but at least, I finally got my foot in some door. Anyway, I just had to post this 'coz I'm excited.

Honey, none of us will EVER get our turn at rolling the dice if we aren't willing to reach for 'em in the first place. Way to go.You had better keep us posted.Teduhm...I think there's a song lyric in there somewhere...
The truest of tears
Seem to me to be the ones
Shed in gratitude

Never hurts to DREAM!!!!! cause sometimes they come true. Even if it's not a sure thing, doesn't it feel good just to have the hope of someone actually cutting one of your songs??? One step closer!!!

Hey, thanks, Claire, Ted and C. H. E. for the well wishes. Ted, you're right, and I'll keep you posted. My neighbors love the CD I sent 'em, but I don't know if Taylor will...but it doesn't hurt to try. BTW, Ted, I got sidetracked the other day, and I didn't congratulate you on your spirit award at the Rally....big congrats to you on that!
