Hey guys! We're brand new to taxi, and after reading the forums for a solid 6 hours when I couldn't sleep the other night, I think this is one of the most positive and musically talented boards I've seen . (Even in the face of some not-so-nice people!)But we were wondering if you veterans would be able to take some time to review some of our songs!! Preferably "Hanging on" and "Silence" But if you want to do more, thank you! you can check it out at www.taxi.com/contrast, or www.myspace.com/contrastrock.Thanks a lot guys!-Contrast

Re: New to taxi! - Female led Pop/Rock Band
Hey backatcha from the Deep South. I liked Silence betta than Hanging on but the only reason is I felt that the guitars in Hanging On could've used more dynamic breaks or chops, be more interesting ala Evanescence type stuff (the reviewers like that) . You did it in a couple of spots but the intro was pretty basic and might throw off a reviewer. I liked them both though, just liked Silence better. Were these live recordings? They could use an inflator if you've got Protools and definitely, bring up that nice voice you've got there, it gets lost in the mix and people really love out-front vocals. I know, I know, a lot of vocalists love having their chops right in front and others can't stand it, they want to blend in with the band but that's the nature of female-led rock, your voice hasta be right on out there. Keep it up!! I'm all for it.

It boosts the sound in a huge way.....gives everything a wash of turbo-power. Really helps it pop. It's not included in Protools with the package, it's software you have to plug in. I can get a product name if your guy doesn't have one. Trust me, you'd like it. And definitely, if you're not her, bring her voice up. If you're her, bring your voice up. People like that. Reviewers like that a lot. Amy Lee, et al, didn't get known for weak vocal mixes. Just ain't done.
