Sometimes it's possible to write the music without changing the lyrics, and sometimes it's not. I don't have a problem with changing my lyrics to better suit the music

Re: looking for composers/songwriters
I definately want to give it a try.I actually did this very thing together with a woman from England, she would pitch me poems and I would write songs around it. It was all from cheesy love songs to angry/insane **** off songs.Yes, it does take more time to write a song to lyrics than to just write them both at the same time, but it's not THAT hard.I'm 100% positive I can make something for some of your lyrics, all I can't say is if you'll like it, but we should give it a try. Here is a song that was written to the lyrics afterwards.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1Agr6q2lyMPlease note, this is just one of various styles I write in. My YouTube channel has a few of those styles.
those bands you listed write their own songs...[/quoteNot that this has anything to do with the actual post, but they don't all write their own songs. Almost all of them collaborate with outside composers.

It sounds interesting. I'd like to see some lyrics, I write very similar style and know quite a few people who do as well. You can check out my bands myspace page http://www.myspace.com/ottosdaughter.Either way, much success!quote author=dyien board=collaboration thread=12797 post=128135 time=1238091711]Hi everyone,Long story short:I'm a lyricist, have been writing for several years now and have many songs that have all the potential of becoming hits - all they're missing is music. Good music. To get a better idea of what I'm after, think (in no particular order): Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Christina Aguilera, Lafee (german singer), Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Cruxshadows (and similar),... This list is by no means exhaustive, and is just a reference.I'm looking for anyone who can create music - composers, songwriters, people who play the piano or guitar... you get the idea. The music would have to be written to already existing lyrics (you get to choose the ones you want to write music to). Most of my songs were written for something along the lines of pop-rock, but I have a wide range and anything from heavy metal to pop music is possible. If you're interested I would love to hear from you - please email me on stephrexo@gmail.comThanks,steph
I totally agree with you!May 17, 2009, 4:47am, jiml wrote:The problem with writing music to existing lyrics is that the lyricist MUST be willing to let the lyrics be modified (to a point). Songwriter/musicians know very well how the 2 go hand in hand, one modifying the other and adapting to small changes. Nothing should be written in stone. Music and lyrics are fluid, both being the container and contents at the same time.;>)-Jim
