Post Rally Forwards on 3 listings!
It's been a great run post rally for me. The Rally was very encouraging as I spoke to some great forumites, (Mazz, Barry), got a track played at the TV music panel with positive feedback, and got some great tips for instrumental composing from numerous sources. On the ACOUSTIC GUITAR INSTRUMENTAL listing, I got a surprise forward as the recording process was rushed and my guitar player was tired. I felt that this track could have used more work, but it made the mark which is great: 'Summer Suns'http://www.taximusic.com/stream/276230/ ... ns.mp3Then on the REGGAE/DANCEHALL dispatch listing, I got a forward for a dancehall song. I wanted more time to write more tunes as for me these are fun to crank out. But I didn't have time! The track: 'Me Want Move Move'http://www.taximusic.com/stream/277653/ ... ove.mp3And lastly on the 'INSPIRATIONAL/UPLIFTING INSTRUMENTAL' dispatch listing, I had 2 out of 4 tracks forwarded. I expected one to be a return because, as this one was also down to the wire, I accidentally submitted my dancehall track to this listing! Obviously it got returned with 'stylistically off target' checked. Ooops, there goes $5. Here's one of those tracks, a piano track called 'Give me Wings':I realized after recording that it bears a similarity to an old worship song. How the subconscious comes back to haunt us! I think it's different enough though.http://www.taximusic.com/stream/277911/ ... gs.mp3This week: Trying to get some music written for the Video Game Instrumental dispatch listing due Tuesday. I have a lot of work to do if I'm going to make the deadline!

Back at you Mazz. It was an inspiration to get some advice and info from you at the Rally. Here's to a year of success.

Re: Post Rally Forwards on 3 listings!
This is my first ever venture into the forum. I've been a TAXI member since January, but it took the Road Rally (my first) to realize how important it is to network and get on the forum, so please forgive my being so green. I made some great contacts at the Rally and also had a song played in two of the sessions ("Looking for Hits" and Guy Marshall's "Take a Deep Breath..." class). I sent Guy a copy of my CD the day after the Rally ended. Two weeks later, I'm eating dinner, and my phone rings. It was Guy! He was really excited about a few of my songs and said he wants to talk about doing something with them. I'm stoked. Not really sure what to expect next, but in the meantime, I'm going to just keep writing (I guess that's all I CAN do). Best wishes to all! Johnny Thunderbox

Thank you, Vikki! Glad to be aboard!I like your goals, by the way. I think it's important to post them too for the world to see. It makes us accountable. That being said, here are some of the goals I wrote at the Rally:1. Write 6 days a week (I started with 7, but my songwriting partner said my girlfriend's patience need not be tested)2. Write at least one new TV cue per day (not completely produced, just written). So far, so good.3. Have 30-40 finished music cues by March.4. Have at least one song placed in a movie in 2010. (I'm close on one). 5. Within 3 years, be able to write music full-time (I'm a teacher also). We'll see how it goes! Thanks again for the encouragement!

To answer the question of 10westmusic and Mazz on the other now defunct forum, that Plug-in sounds so realistic because it's a real piano.
That's my 6'8" Kawai CS-60, which is one of my greatest assets in recording. I saved like crazy when I got out of college to buy it and I could never afford it now. I have experimented a lot with micing it in different configurations, and have never been entirely happy with it. To be honest, for the recordings from this listing, I had to EQ it and compress it with more exacting detail than ever, but I'm actually pretty pleased as I've ever been with the sound I got for once.
Thanks again for the compliments fellas.
