My review of Taxi after 1 yr of membership

After 1 year, 4 forwards out of 13 submissions, ($405 in fees NOT including membership to taxi and broadjam) .......equated to ZERO deals.13 submissions x $5 = $65 US

I think only a relatively inexpensive broadjam membership (e.g. not "pro") is required for TAXI submissions. It's been a while, but I thought that was $30 or $40 a year???

I think my Taxi MOB cost $40. Isn't $300 for a web site and all that stuff? There are lots of cheaper options, even at Broadjam.

On the other hand, this past year alone i've made deals with 2 labels distributed through Sony and Universal, 1 publishing deal with a pub firm, paid placements in two different indie films, and few ongoing radio spins in the US, Canada, and the UK. All by myself, without Taxi and extra money.I think it's safe to say I will not be renewing. www.mobonix.comHi mo,first off: congrats to your placements!to your opinion with taxi, a short statement how I see it:* 13 submission is really not that much to be honest... to tell the truth I don't think you can expect fast and great results out of the 4 forwards.* taxi does mention that you have to be with broadjam in order to submit digitally - I've read it in the faq. And if you go to broadjam.com it's easy to find out what they charge.* How many submissions, emails, postages did you need to get the placements you currently have? Compare that to the 4 forwards/13 submissions you did through taxi.* I don't understand your math ($405 excl. taxi & broadjam fee).cheers,Martin

Standoff I believe was late 2005. The others are all from libraries I got hooked up with thru Taxi pre 2005 I think, but I don't think any of the ones I mentioned are from forwards earlier than 2003; of course once I have an "in" I usually keep the relationship going if it seems promising.Im my experience most library music typically takes around a couple of years from the point of completion until it really starts generating placements, so most of the stuff that's making money now was written/pitched/commissioned at least 2 years ago.Personally I'm glad I didn't give up on Taxi after a year (or even two) cause if I had I wouldn't be making a living from music now. But for somebody like the OP who's really good at getting stuff on his own perhaps things look different.

Isn't that backwards? How can you submit 21 songs 13 times. And 13 submissions would be $65, so you must have submitted 21 times for $105.

I think he means he submitted to 13 listings, but in some cases more than one song... for a total of 21 songs.
