What style/genre would you put this in?

Hi Jessica,

In response to your question, i think you have the genre spot on, your production and vocals are very contemporary pop and would certainly fit in with the Lady GAGA, Kelly Clarkson, Britney type pop. However, after listening to all the tracks on your widget, i think the main reason you're not getting forwarded is your songs are simply not strong enough.
Your melodies are pleasant but don't hook me in; the lyrics although ok aren't great and your chorus's are absent in some songs i.e. Mess of Love, it doesn't lift, theres no difference between the verse and chorus melodically or rythmically.
The one song you have that sounds a bit like 'Womaniser' starts off promisingly but doesn't have that instantly memorable hook, the killer riff or that fresh melody that you need for great pop tunes, in many ways pop is the most unforgiving of genres as it demands a high standard of writing to come up with something fresh, original, contemporary, exciting and just plain catchy, it' very hard to write a simple song and to compete with the great tunes that are around at the moment...let's take 'Womaniser' for example, when you hear that track, what do you end up humming after its finished?..yes, the melody ..to both the verse and the chorus..they're both hooks...and the title of the song is unique, it deals with an age old concept: the cheating man ; but gives it a fresh angle and that's what it takes to get a hit: exceptional songs, not just good, not OK but exceptional.

I think you're definantly on the right tracks, your production and vocals are great and i think with some more writing and re-writing you'll get a great song and if you keep at it you will get a forward.
