So...How much do you make for a placement?

Post by locash » Fri Apr 28, 2006 5:09 pm

Finding it hard to find people who have actually got a placement in a tv show or movie or library. Just curious what one song placement will get you? Will it pay for you taxi membership that year? Seems like lots get fwd'd but no one gets followed up. But I'm new and probably arent looking in the right places. Peace.

Hi,I don't have the time to go through 5 sites on the other thread to see what matto posted, so I just answer you here.If you want to learn more about the whole "system" behind it (..how licenses, upfront fees etc work) I suggest you highly the book "all you need to know about the music business" by donald passman.in short: It depends how your music *was used (what station?) *in which situation (just background on a bar-scene or is it the title music for a series?)*for how long was the music used?*on the deal (is there a synchronisation fee (upfront)? or royalties only?)You see, you need to know some more information in order to tell number$.I have had placed 5 Tracks on a mtv show last winter - my PRO told me that I'm the first Swiss guy they know of who had such a placement in the US, so they either couldn't tell me any numbers;)cheers,Martin
