Jeeze ---- I got another forward! Second time this week. Holy Smokes !There seems to be a pattern. Both forwards were based on "YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI".QUESTION: Is it appropriate that I contact TAXI and ask "to who" the music was forwarded to? ....and if TAXI gives me the info, is a "friendly hello" follow up to the company appropriate? What should I expect next? Now I'm really confused.TAXI LISTING:Original 1980s SONGS & INSTRUMENTALS IN ALL GENRES [either recorded in the 1980s or on the mark style-wise -- think New Wave, Goth Rock, Punk, Adult Contemporary, Metal, College Rock, etc.] are needed by: Film, TV, and Advert. Music w/ 50/50 SPLIT + YOU KEEP ALL YOUR COPYRIGHTS with this NON-EXCLUSIVE Placement Company being started by veterans of that industry. The CEO of this company is a close friend of Michael Laskow's, and is very selective...so TAXI's bar is very high for this listing! They are looking for master quality songs; only the best will be selected...it's QUALITY not quantity, so this will be a huge opportunity for those who are chosen. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. Submissions must be received no later than June 29, 2006. Howdy,If you were notified by email, the email message should contain the name of the placement company. You can probably Google for the address and additional info. I think the consensus here is that you wait for the company to contact you to let you know whether they wish to use the forwarded material, or include it in their library. From that point you can begin to build a relationship with themCongratulations! It's easy to get addicted to receiving forwards, but sometimes there's a bit of a wait between hits. Enjoy the high while it lasts.Jeff

Re: 2nd Forward This Week (Taxi #Y06062980)
Hey,Congrats! When it rains it pours. The name of the company will be in the little email that was forwarded, but I would definitely not contact the company. Remember that these companies aren't using Taxi exclusively, they're getting music all the time from a wide variety of sources. These things will come in their own time and unlike selling a used car, there is nothing we can say or do to trick them into an "impulse buy". The best advice I think is to start Googling the Internet for publishers and music libraries and start your own mailing campaign in addition to the submissions you make through Taxi. For example, one source of good prospects to send music to is "The Songwriters Market", a book that you can find at most bookstores. In addition to a thick book full of publishers, record companies, etc, it has a lot of useful information on the do's and don'ts of sending demos and contacting people. If you start sending a couple of demos a day, it won't be long before you'll have sent a couple hundred demos. Your desire to call all of them for a friendly hello will dwindle because you'll be actively engaged in "the next step forward" rather than wondering about what the guy that received your demo last week might be thinking. Congrats again and good luck!Dave
