Now HEAR this!
Hello Ya'll,
Rooftop Screamer here. I might as well jump into the Review Station mill. I humbly ask for your feedback on my song "My Baby (radio mix)". Here's the link:

Having a hard time targeting the right listing. Hot Adult Contemporary? Pop/Rock? Alternative/Indie Rock?
Sounds like? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Roman

Hi Roman. Just a note to say it's very helpful if you can also post your lyrics.
Hot Adult Contemporary - I don't think so
Alternative/Indie Rock - not 'rock' enough, IMO
Nice harmonies. Singer/songwriter? Soft rock / pop? It sounds like something I'd hear on the local classic rock station, playing hits from the 80s. It's a little long for radio, though.
what's your market? Pitch as an artist, pitching songs to artists, pitching to film/tv?

This sounds way too dated for TAXI, unless they are looking for an 80s retro pop song. Even in that genre, your lyrics are very generic. (The words "My baby" has been used hundreds of times in countless pop songs throughout the years) I do like the line about having a mother so beautiful. Overall, it sounds like it could have been on a B-Side of a Roxette single from back in the 80s, but it certainly is not a hit. keep working. Start by getting better drum loops...they are very 80s.

I would say more 90's. Milli Vanilli-ish. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey RTS,
I'm listening to it. Man, I like it a lot. Just my 2 cents:
Pros: Even though millions of songs have "my baby" lyrics, what I like about this is the melody. The guitar work is very nice as well. This would make a great instrumental; vox are fine as well, but probably want to bring them a little more up front in the mix.
Cons: Song is too long - probably only an established artist can get away with that! Unless there's a particular film/tv listing asking for 80's rock, this may not be something you'd really hear on the Adult Contemporary stations nowadays (not sure if that's what you might be targeting). Technically, the drum loops sound a little too obvious. Maybe it's just my headphones, but I hear a very slight "click" between loops. Like in the previous post, you might consider better loops.
